Title: Tortilla Flat
Post by: MrRiden on March 04, 2007, 11:27:57 AM
Some pics from a Saturday ride with some friends in Tortilla Flat, AZ. One gal got off her Ninja unexpectedly but all was well.

Looks like a great place to ride, at least this time of year.   ;D  I'm glad everything turned out okay.

Thanks for the pictures!

You ride with a pretty wild bunch there, MrRiden.... I have heard of scooter burnout before...

A little recognized hazard of riding on these roads, is the abundance of cacti within a few feet of the roadway. An unfortunate off-road excursion can easily find oneself tangling with one of these 'beasts' and some are truly nasty !

Dark and cold inside my garage right now, I am afraid.  :'(

Indy club meeting next Sunday!  Maybe I will get out and ride to it!  (and take a picture)

Take another photo of your tat now that it is healing, and I'll show it off at the meeting!

Better yet, I'll cut it out and paste it to MY arm!  :D

Those pictures make me homesick.  I was born in AZ, though we moved when I was a baby and I don't remember anything from there.  But we always lived in dry country, including eastern Oregon, until I was 8, and I still haven't adapted to this side yet.

Today was brilliant, though.  Very low chance of rain so I rode the Triumph; it was in the 40s this morning on my way to work early, and nearly 70 on my very long meandering ride home.

Tomorrow it might rain later on so I'll take the R65.   :D

Ed, what part of Oregon are you referencing ? I have co-workers that are from Burns, Ontario and La Grande, Oregon.

At various times, Hermiston, Pendleton (right outside it actually, I think the place was called Rieth), Culver, Madras, and Prineville.

...I think that's all.

I love the area around La Grande.

If your not from the region, it's amazing that once you get east of the Cascade mountain range, you're in high desert. Same is true of eastern Washington state and the lower elevations of Idaho.

Hey MR, Nice bike. I have the same one - new to me - only ridden it a few days last fall. I noticed that it is damn hard to use the stock mirrors as my arms block the view. How do you like the bar end mirrors that I saw in your pics?
