Yeah, I've never been nuts about the F650 thumpers myself (no offense, anyone), but these new 800cc twins really look and sound great. My first real street riding was on Triumphs, BSAs and the old Yamaha XS650s, so I've always had a soft spot for vertical twins. This F800 makes 85 horsepower and only weighs 400 lbs, so it oughta be a nice little rocket!

My first bike of any kind was my CL360.  I hope they don't sound like that!

yep first bike i had was a norton commando, and then a bunch of other limmie stuff i wish i still had. had a xs650 and a kz750 twin. i really liked that kz750 twin.

ok so who is going to make some t-shirts so we can stand out in the moa crowd and find each other???
i have a order in for some patches but it is kind of hard to see them in a sea of people.

Bronco Brown t-shirts..we'll blend in with the dirt!!! ;D

At Lima and at Essex Junction I have only met up with Rob and that was pure chance..almost ESP! No matter what we plan like daiquiris etc. we can't seem to meet up in that sea of people. I guess we need a precise time, in the beer garden, on a certain night, at the door, wearing BB t-shirts if that's what it takes! Sounds like a game of Clue!!

No National Rally for me again this year.  Just no time.  I will be thinking of you guys though.  Maybe this time we can hook up with the cell phones?

Hmmm sounds like an excuse for a ride.  Should we bring our fishing gear? ;)  Probably what we need is a flag on a pole above the crowd.  Variations on the theme of the patch.

I've been thinking of making some kind of flag.  Let me see what I can come up with.  Maybe I'll make a couple of them.  It would be easy enough to cut 2 at once.  I can be handy with a sewing machine.  It could be really similar to the patches but maybe a bit more simple.

If anyone has any ideas on what would look good, please post your ideas.  Maybe I'll start a new thread in the chit-chat category about this.

How about everyone come up with their own design, and then we could vote?

Just kidding!!!  (https://bmwr65.org/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fkleine-boxer.redeker.net%2Fimages%2Fsmiles%2Fsteinigung.gif&hash=c3b3a4e29bd01eaade186456718dfbbc30484205)

We had our little differences but all was "patched" up very quickly.

Think of any committee you've ever been on, Aïda!

Rob, I love the new smiley!    ;D   It's not on the smiley list.  Get Justin to add that one on.

For the flag, I'm just going to make something that I like.  This will be a creative endeavor.  [smiley=vrolijk_1.gif]   I will use it at the rallys I go to and I'll make a 2nd one.  Or I can post the directions and anyone can make their own, with their own creativeness added.  They don't have to be exactly the same.  But it would be great to have the logo be the same - the R65 and the R65LS with the letters R65.org on a blue background would be great .

I say just keep it simple.  Then it can be embellished as wanted.  I was talking with someone last night and we came up with the idea of doing a pennant type of flag.

Anyway, these are just ideas right now.

I like the flag/pennant idea, and we should also exchange cell phone #s in advance - I had tried to do that
with Sue and Dan a couple days before the rally this past summer, but the website went down and I didn't
have their emails. :'(   sabotage by anti-rally spammers, I'm sure !

Also, I think that wisconsin may be too far to ride for me on the R65, so I'll have to either take the
concours, or if business goes really well the next few months, maybe I'll find a low mileage R100RT
or RS and sneak it into the barn in time to ride it to Wisconsin...

Trailer it to Wisconsin!
I won't tell.

Well, we'll see.   For years I have scoffed at all the "bikers" coming in for the Laconia motorcycle week and races at Loudon, NH, trailering in their bikes
behind huge SUVs.   Now, I can understand perhaps those folks from far away (like, for instance, Oklahoma) driving an RV up here with their bike(s)
in tow as part of a really big trip, and due to the prices of hotel rooms here during that week.  But, it seems that the majority of the "trailer-riders" are from
nearby Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and they are trailering in their H-Ds or Big Dogs for what would be a nice 1-day ride.  These aren't
bikes that will be entered in some sort of beauty contest either - they're just bikes.   I really did a double take this year when I saw someone trailering
a Honda GoldWing, and another trailering a Harley Road King, just to cruise up and down the strip !

I really don't want to become part of the trailer-rider crowd !

(that is why you stash it in the next state over!  get a good coat of dirt on it before arriving!)
