Title: Update on the very long restoration of my R65...
Post by: clonmore1 on November 05, 2016, 01:28:48 PM
So, where are we?

Bike is now running with the electrics done other than the handlebar switchgear which will be done next week.

Bodywork is away at the painters and should be ready by month-end, I am having the stripes hand painted to match the original factory finish.

The seat has been renovated including painting the seat underside. New shocks/handlebars, foot pegs, various other misc parts and Oxford heated grips.

Bike should be complete within next two weeks, once bodywork has arrived, it will be tested, taxed and ready to ride.

I will have some photos over the next few days to show the progress, a more detailed update including some of the modifications we have done to the old girl.

It has been a long journey...

It would appear that this forum doesn't support mobile devices for attaching images?

I'll add some when in the office tomorrow and on my stream driven desktop ;)

New shocks will have fitted by now along with the new bars/heated grips and switch gear.

Brake disc (rotors) centers have been vapor blasted and look like new, calipers are being rebuilt.

Seat completed and awaiting my collection & all bodywork away at the paint shop, should be finished by month end.

Engine has been running, but needs setting up after carb ultrasonic cleaning.

All being well, bike should be ready for UK MOT test within next 4 weeks, I can then tax it and ride it away!!!!

Yah!  I will trade every one of my projects for what's behind tarp #1!!

Good progress on the bike, it's gonna be a really clean scoot when it's finished.

Now onto completing the wiring, handlebar switchgear and ignition switch. New battery installed.

Engine set-up & carb balance should all be done next week.

Seat renovation finished.

I'll get some further images up next week some time.

No idea why the image isn't correctly oriented and nobody at work can tell me other than the forum format looks a little 'old fashioned' (their words not mine), sorry...
