Hello there guys, just thought I'd start a log so show the progress of my R65. Right now I'm onto sorting out the seat.
Photos of an early attempt at working out a seat base template from cardboard are below. Spoke to a friend who told me to use hardboard. I have some hardboard now and am in the process of shaping it, then its either off to a metal shop to get it turned into a metal base or attempt a metal one myself / use a thicker wood.

now then
I used a 1.5mm ally sheet and bent it whilst on the bike using the subframe as the guide.
Fits perfect now and the tabs are in the right places!!
look forward to seeing more

surely some kind of foam with say, a vinyl covering would be a better option? ;D

Long time no see, apologies I've been busy. Anyway the bikes coming along nicely, I've been cleaning up the front end, relocating ignition switch and system light, mounting the speedo etc etc. As you can see its looking a lot cleaner.
Still need to make my seat and thats the next job on the list.

Ross,
Nice to see you still working on it.
Have to pop round sometime and see how its going.

I like the headlights, what are they and where do you buy them?
I also hate to sound doleful, but I think that the in-fill piece that you have the ignition switch mounted on will result in the coils and ignition amplifier (on the assumption your R65 is so equipped) getting somewhat less than their requirement fro fresh air and may well create heat issues.

Roger that, Tony.
Besides maintaining the heat sink paste on the ICU, cooling air wafting over the 'hot' parts is rather important for reliable engine ops.

Hi All,
A little bit of an update to the thread and an introduction at the same time.
My wife and I (her project, I'm the labour) have just picked up Ross's R65 as he didn't have the time to put into it to get it finished.
We plan on continuing the scambler theme. First port of order will be to get it up and running and MOT'd so we she ride it around for the summer. Then the plan is a complete strip and rebuild.
We've just completed a VFR400 V4 which was a lot of fun and are both looking forward to getting stuck into this one. Hopefully we can do it justice.
We'll post pictures (and no doubt ask liots of advice) and keep the thread alive
