There seems to be a lot of interest among folks on this forum about Triumphs. So let's see some of them. Like Monte "Mongo" Miller says, "if there ain't a picture, it doesn't exist."
Here is my 2001 Bonneville, and my 1968 TR25W.

1995 Triumph Trophy 900 Triple. 18+K miles. Has another Givi 36L top case.

Love those Trumpets guys, here's mine:

Its a 2010 Bonneville SE, my main ride was a R1100RS before this.
I love my Bonnie, such a sweet handling bike.

You guys have probably seen these:

This is what I lust after..... Don't own it yet, but if I get my settlement from the liquor store over my accident, I WILL. (There's just something about that all-black look! ;)
-
Those Bonnevilles are sure pretty, that's why I bought mine. But the exhaust note on a stock bike sounds wimpier than a Honda 90. Must do something about mine, sooner than later. :-/
-
Just read Monte's Howto for posting pics first. So here's Winston in two different garbs: dressed for long distance travel and for the good time cruising:
-
Shoot! Botched the second one. Will resize!!! Sorry!!!
-
Here's Winnie's party dress! The travelling garb is pretty ugly in a way but the Micatech aluminium cases sure are handy. The windshield is good for keeping off the wind and rain and those panniers behind my legs are great for those little things ya need quick. And they are cheapos from Amazon.com as they are ATV bags.
My only chore now is to get those wee bags back on without too much upset of the Micatech luggage racks which are based on a Givi rack with a SW Motech adapter plate. Givi rack from Norman Hyde in UK., specifically made for the Bonneville.

Had all the girls out the other day, first pic my 78 CB750k and 2002 Sprint 955, second pic 1980 r65, 94 Dyna Glide, 2010 Rocket III Touring

Agree, I went for the Triumph Off Road (TORs), they look exactly as stock but sound way nicer and authentic.

Nice SE, Love the fairing/screen on your cruising setup, what is it?

Hey trips, if you haven't guessed by now, I have a screen fetish, ;), whats the one on your 65? Great bikes, how do you decide what to ride?
-
I got it from Gustafson Screens, someone here suggested they could identify and match my fairing (Greer Mach I), which they did. Not happy about having not one, but 2 Gustafson windscreen emblems on it though, I consider it fairly tacky on their part, I wrote them asking if there was any way to remove the "unwanted and unsightly" logos on it, LOL.
-
Not sure if it was my SE's screen, RSMike, which you were asking about but it is National Cycle's Street Shield with the addition of a Laminar Lip that was heat remolded slowly to fit the NC screens curvature. The Laminar Lip ordered was the one for the R65LS and that Lip fits BOTH the R65LS's shield and the Bonnie's after slow re-curving work with a heat gun. Just lucky or what??!!!! The 3M dual-locks allow removal but best to order a packet of them as they wear faster when removed a lot. Laminar Lip sells them in lots of 10.
-
Sue, I asked this in another thread but you may have missed it. Where did you find the Napoleans for Winnie? Did you have to change bars?
RSMike, I just ordered a set of Emgo muffs for mine. I didn't know that the TOR was an abbreviation for Triumph Off Road. They are low pipes aren't they? Did you rejet? (Yes, I know that is always the question, isn't it!)
-
New Bonnevile in Murphy Texas Bengt! No bar change but did have to follow instructions from a fellow on the Triumph Rat forum. If you search on there it will probably bring up the right thread. There was a solid metal plug inside the bar ends that takes a bit of doing to drill so this guy figured out a way to mount the mirrors without disturbing these. Whatever he did I did and so far the mirrors are solidly in place...even a fall didn't loosen them.... ;)
I will see if I can find a link for you.....
-
Here's a link but there is plenty more discussion about the installation:

Good luck!!

I bet the Emgo's will sound good too, mine's the fuel injected variety, so it was just a new tune download by the Tech at the Triumph shop, though he got it wrong first time ( somehow he managed to download a tune for Brazilian market!, caused a lot of popping)

I have this sound in my head of your Turnip backfiring to the Bosa Nova. [smiley=cool.gif] Wonder if Brazilian Triumphs have to have a bikini fairing? ;D

Please, won't somebody tell the bartender to cut off Mike! I know he's enjoying multiple Shiner Bock beers while staring out the window, waiting for FedEx to deliver his new and very cool Bonneville muffs.
Me? I'm on training beer, aka: Miller Lite, while watching the Hummingbirds argue over who eats first at the patio feeder. That's "Plan B" as it's too damn hot to ride.

So what is the temp Monte??? [smiley=flamethrowingsmiley.gif]
I am a true northerner and had never experienced over 100 F. so Bloomsburg National was quite an eye-opener.....all night in a tent! Hard to sleep a wink!
-
So what is the temp Monte???
In Denton, Texas, Sunday 31 July 2011, the forecast is for 104°F; climbing up to 108°F on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday's projected a cooling off, down to 106°F.
Here in 1980, I went through 40 straight days of 100°F+. I believe we are approaching 30 days and tomorrow it's August- our hot month- so the record may be broken.
I ride e-a-r-l-y and get home to the AC NLT 1000 hours.
[smiley=flamethrowingsmiley.gif]Back at ya Monte
I can almost hear Bob Roller laughing at us... "Wimps! Lemme tell y'all about HOT"
-
Sue, the heat is bad enough but the drought is killing us. It's so dry that my new rain gauge is the cap from a bottle of Shiner beer. We're all just hoping that the armadillo doesn't see his shadow this morning or we might have six more weeks of drought.
-
hmmm, wish I could swap some wet for heat, its a public holiday here today, I should be riding my bikes, but there has been a heavy drizzle all day, just too wet and miserable
-
www.newbonneville.com
Nice guy, even though he regularly snares my "disoposable income" and promptly disposes of it.

And here is a great ad for the Rocket III, very funny and typically Brit.

Dragged these parts out from where they've been hiding for the last 5 years, time to do a bit more to it. It might never get finished as I don't have the funds, but there is still stuff I can potter away on.

Is that an oil in frame Triumph. I had one of those in 75. The frame looks a bit ungainly without it's clothes on but that down tube is near invisible in the finished bike.
Is it a special ? My memory is not that great but wouldn't it originally have been a full cradle frame. And what's the engine ?
-
It's a '71 OIF, and that's an XS650 engine. The work was done decades ago by someone else, and never finished - it needs a couple more engine mounts....and I have to modify the engine some as it was made for a non electric start XS1,and my engine is an '81. Main thing I'm missing are forks and wheels.

Here is a photo of my 1946 Triumph Speed Twin and a link to a web page that I made about these bikes.

Cool bikes guys but hey when are you going to step up to a man's bike?
The 1971 BSA Thunderbolt hangin' on the Dragon!

David,
That 1946 speed twin is way cool though. My helmet is off to you. You need to go hang out in the Triumph section of the www.britbike.com forum. Lots of helpful people there....
8-)
-
Gimme a break Semper G! Do you even have a hundred thousand miles on that thing yet?
I second the helpful people on Britbike.com, but I have to add that I'm there too so it has that drawback.
-
Cool bikes guys
Such was BSA known..."but hey when are you going to step up to the working man's bike?" ::)

Hey guys, here's a pic of the newest addition to the family. Picked up a 2012 street triple r over the weekend. 200 miles so far and I'm a happy camper. Rode the BMW into work today though -- I've got to keep harmony in the garage, don't you know.
Gordon
-
Ohh Gordon, I want to ride one. Actually the one I fell in love with recently was a 675 Triple. Not the Daytona, but I guess a less highly tuned and easier riding position one. I don't remember what it was called. That thing doesn't weigh any more than my Bonneville.
-
Ed:
That sounds like the street triple to me. It has basically the same engine as the daytona -- 675ccs -- but much more streetable. Lots more low end torque than the daytona at the cost of less top end HP. I think the daytona makes about 125 at the crank, while the street triple is rated at 105 HP. Still plenty of power for me. R version I have has the same engine as the regular street but adds better brakes and fully adjustable suspension. Great riding position (more upright than my LS with Euro bars!) and the sound of the intake at WOT is intoxicating to say the least. :D
-
That's the one, Gordon! I didn't realize yours was also a 675, yeah that's what I saw, yeah I want one too. Unless a Daytona 675 is comfortable for me, that is. But they are several thousand dollars more expensive, too. And yours still has over twice as much horse power as my Bonneville. Maybe I'll see a good deal on a used one in a few years.
-
I also looked for a used one, but in my area at least they are virtually impossble to find -- I think people either hang on to them or sell to a friend, etc. without ever hitting craigslist, cycletrader or ebay.
-
My Brother sacrificed his 82 R65 05 Enfield and a wedge of cash for this new Triumph T100.( i thought he was going after a T America but he did not like the riding position) any way i get to run it in and put it through its paces while he is working away and his son George gets to clean it along with the others... seems a good deal for me [smiley=lolk.gif]

A little something for all you Triumph lovers out there.

Marcmax, That's a perfect touring Triumph for any weekend trip of one-quarter to five miles. Zoom-Zoom.
It's not a Triumph but a Triple Norton - the Hog Slayer- that I'll be eye-ballin' this weekend during the North Texas Norton Owners Association annual Lake O' the Pines Rally near Jefferson, Texas.
I'll will use my "John Janssen" and post some snaps next week.

Daytona 500 on a great basin desert roundabout in 1971 . . . right after i bought it new. Still have it stored in Nevada . . . ride her in the winter when it froze up tight here in AK.

Nice bike!
-
It is that little "step" up before the mufflers that Triumph put in their new Bonnies that always irked me - the straight line pipes on that lovely Daytona 500 are The Way It Should Be ;-)
-
Gotta love the looks of a full size wheel up front. Aggressive...

Agreed Mike. I've always thought there was something not quite right but you've put your finger on it. That and the tank. My 2001 has the classic Triumph tank, very sleek and classy. The tanks on the newer Triumphs are more bulbous and kind of porky IMO. Can't wait until this knee heals up and I can take my Turnip out for a ride again. Weather here has been terrific lately.

Doing a little resurrect of the topic, which is off topic.. ;)
