Title: Ducati Diavel Dark
Post by: Luca on December 12, 2015, 04:28:43 PM
A few years ago I got my neighbor into motorcycles when I snuck a Honda Nighthawk under his wife's nose.  Now she sports a Rebel and as of the other day he has upgraded to a 2015 Diavel.  It was a demo bike with 400 miles.  Read: the tires came pre-scuffed.

Went out for a ride with him today and I got to take the Ducati for a few miles.  Holy crap!  162 melodious ponies will get you to ludicrous speed faster than you can say cuisanart and the brakes can actually slow down time.

I like the riding position on my low-barred LS better than the Duc, and I like how the Beemer seems to work with me in the turns, rather than against me.  The Diavel's big rear tire doesn't let the bike track as nicely and you have to hold the bike down in a lean...

...but that is the most beautiful engine I've ever had the pleasure of controlling.

It is insane isn't it - still getting some riding time here in New England in December!

The Italian beauty, she will seduce you.

That thing was a blast to ride, but if I owned it I'd have to take my choice between chronic depression or losing my license.  It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.  Once we swapped back I took ol' Heidi up to a 5th gear redline with Ducati en tail so she could give all she's got.

New England weather seems to be holding out yet again.  I'm on my 3rd last tank of gas.  Looks like I might have a 4th!

I was out riding this weekend on December 26th -  a new highwater mark for me.  But with today's snow, sleet and ice, I think it is time to hookup the battery tenders and put a few ounces of Stabil into the tank again for the "real" winter that seems to have come back to find us.

I went out again on Christmas day with the Ducati neighbor.  his fancy ambient temp gauge was reading mid-sixties.

They didn't put salt down in RI so I'm holding out on another nice day.  I've been meaning to drain the gas tank this year to make sure there is no rust/water inside.  I think I'm on my 4th last tank of gas...
