Title: The Beast Lives ('87 Moto Guzzi Lario)
Post by: Bob_Roller on December 17, 2012, 05:16:31 PM
Had two hours of free time this afternoon, so I decided to put the fuel tank back on the Lario, fuel it up and see if the engine would start .

Engine fired up right away, about 10 seconds of starter operation .

Only minor issues are the left fuel tap is seeping, the crossover fuel manifold has some leakage,  brake light switch at the front brake lever doesn't work and the tail light doesn't work, looks like I've got some electrical troubleshooting to do .

The bike has the same lousy fuses that the R65 has, so that's my first stop for troubleshooting when I get some time to look into it .

Engine is amazingly quiet, about 25% the noise an airhead makes .

Performed a carb synch yesterday, they were way off .

Kinda nice, not having to lay on the floor to do the mixture adjustment .

Found one problem during the 30 minute engine run, oil leaking from the cylinder to head area on both cylinders .

I'll do  a retorque of both heads and see if the leak stops .

Didn't even occur to me, to do a retorque or torque check of the cylinder hold down nuts, when I checked the valve clearance before the carb synch !!!!

I think the Lario may be the same bike I saw in a Montpelier store front window awhile back maybe '05 when I attended the Green Mtn. Rally and I had lost my bite valve for the water bladder I carry. I took an instant "love" for that bike. :) I would love to see a pic!
