Title: 1981 Honda XL125S
Post by: fastcataz on November 29, 2011, 10:00:05 AM
After driving across town to look at a KZ400, guy sold it 10 minutes before I got there, I was wandering home and found a yard sale. People were being foreclosed on and had a ton of stuff. Found this in the garage and gave 425.00 for it. 142 original miles, still on rotted original tires. They had drained the tank! Took 2 hours to fire up, had to wait for the new ( 22.00) batt to charge. Runs perfect. Have mounted new tires and tubes, waiting on seat cover and tail light lens. I love it when a plan comes together!

That is a WONDERFUL time machine!
But, is it that the ignition lock is missing (supposed to be under the turn/neutral signal)?

Great score!

The ign lock is not missing, the key is. Or was. I had a new one made, 12.50. Also got a new rubber for the petcock, 8.00.

I had the 250cc version of that bike. Cost me $1565 AUD brand new.
The 250 had a 23" front wheel. I doubt that you could find a front tyre for one of those these days.

The new tail light is on, 15.80. Still waiting on the seat cover.
Lots of trails here in Sandland, but the only friend I have with a "dirt bike" runs a 1150GS, talk about your odd couple.
The wife wants me to get it done and sold before X-mas, I would like to keep it until spring and get a few more bucks for it. That and a few more laps of my flattrack/cul-de-sac. It steers great slideways. Gotta scuff them new tires!

A small bike is so much fun that just maybe you won't sell it! I really love the simplicity and lightness of my new-to-me Suzuki DR200SE! So does my friend Stew who is bigger than me but he still loves the fun factor!

And... sold. $1850. Profit of $1104. I will miss it a lot when gas hits $5 per gallon. The buyer bought for his...12 year old grandson. Glad I got some nice pics!
