Loosening rusted threaded components has been periodically discussed in the R65 Asylum. What else is there to do when Nurse Ratched is close by?

Several members, myownself included, swear by a 50/50 mix of automatic transmission fluid, ATF, and acetone. Soak the rusted nuts and wait awhile; they usually come away. This witch's brew has again saved the day for me... or at least saved my lawn mowing day.
Vibration took its toll on the 21-inch B&S 158cc hot rod's muffler. Split it half way 'round the perimeter. Noisy. A slip-joint, toothed oil filter wrench twisted off the sheet metal but left a flanged 1/2-inch pipe thread muffler stub rusted into the crankcase (it's a side-valve engine).
Took an hour for the ATF/acetone mixture to do its thing. A pair of waterpump pliers spun out the pipe. Some anti-seize compound and I'm good to go.
Yes, it's January 29th, sunny and 63[ch730]F... and I need to mow the yard. The usual McFarland Signature, a weather pattern that brings what passes for cold winter temps in Texas, is staying well north of us.
I'm mowing this afternoon. Monday and Tuesday are forecasted 69-70F and sunny. I'm riding both days.
[smiley=clap.gif] I still hate yard work...

Wow, that's some nasty stuff you mixed up there buddy. Hope you wear acid resistant gloves and a ventilator when you use it. As for the yard work, I have to agree with you, my motto is "You can't improve on nature." Good thing Mrs. Phorqs loves to commune with all things vegatative.

...and I forgot to ask, when did you get together with Louis Fletcher for that photo? Were you an extra in the movie "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest"?
