Title: An Indian Harley?
Post by: montmil on May 07, 2011, 08:11:11 AM
Latest issue of Motor Cyclist magazine has a photoshop image and short article regarding H-D joining forces with Mahindra to build a new 750cc V-Twin in a newly constructed, dedicated 70,000 square foot factory... in Delhi.

Engine development in Milwaukee with all design and styling outsourced to a Mahindra-owned, Bologna-based firm.

Photo looks like a small V-rod tarted up to a sport bike profile.

Now we can chose either the Enfield or the Harley.

Will the Indian latigo handgrip streamers be "real" leather?

Does anyone else see the humor in this that I do? I can almost hear the Harley crowd's new chant,
Harleys and Indians, Harleys and Indians, Harleys and... ::)

If instead the Mahindra guys back Royal Enfield and productized this guy's project, I think it would be a GREAT seller here in North America - watch the videos at the bottom of the page - I'm not sure what firing angle he is using on that V-twin engine (270?) but it is definitely lumpy like a Harley, though when he gets the throttle open on the road it sounds more Guzzi like, I think due to the cylinder/crankshaft layout.

Definitely has more go-power than brakes, now..
