there's a little known fact about GPZ 750's and 1000... They make excelent butchers knives at 60+ mph... I chopped a lamb in half on mine when 'indulging' myself on a highland 'motorway' when I was young and daft...  astonishingly other than a little damage to the front mudguard and a huge dent in one of the down pipes  the bike survived pretty much unscathed...

Unlike the me who not long after got shut of the 'lamb killer' and got my first R65.... I'm pretty sure if I had kept the GPZ I'd have killed myself or kissed my licence away for a long time, it was just to much fun....

thrang - you've really gotta try to cut back on your 'impact' to the local wildlife & livestock !

When you weigh up the miles then my road kill counts not that high.... one lamb, one pheasant and a couple of rabbits..... hummmm that get me thinking... Got a can of draft Guinness.... a cooking pot and few veges's (hang a carrot up mate and we'll soon catch one) and we've got dinner !

My Gpz as geat fun as well - and I do agree, it could be quite lethal.

A ride with my Gpz 1100 is obviously completely different from a ride with the R65. Although I am not a hard rider, I am always  tempted to go too fast with the Gpz.

I prefer to do longer trips with the Gpz, but I defenately prefer the R65 for dayly commuting.

Needless to say, I love both my bikes. The R65 is obviously excellent quality, and I would describe the Gpz as a very good, strong bike.

It's all further proof of my lifelong belief that you need more than one bike
in your stable.  A daily rider, something a bit more sporty, perhaps something
vintage/old and just fun, dirt bikes, street bikes, trials, mx, road racing . . . .
Okay, I'm getting out of control now.

But my Multistrada does a great job as a do-it-all daily rider.  Then when I'm
in a slightly more clip-on, tuck in and pin it mode, the 900SS SP is just the
ticket.  I think the R65LS is going to slot in somewhere in between.  Not fast
enough to go absolutely insane on, but light enough and good handling enough
to be thoroughly entertaining on the backroads.  Excuse me now, I've got to
go out to the garage and stare at them again . . .

When I need an acceleration fix (I love my R65 but sometimes a little mindless acceleration sooths the soul) I tend to pinch the wife's ZR750... But I'd hate to do any distance on it as its miles to buzzy in comparison to the Beemer...
