I was on the way to work this morning, at 0450, about 4 miles after I got on the expressway, I-10, I felt a slight thump on my left forearm with a slight stinging sensation .
Got to work and when I got into a lighted area, I found 4 bats impaled on my mesh jacket .
A coworker was a former registered nurse and strongly recommended that I go to the ER at the local hospital .
I scraped the bats off of my mesh jacket and put them in a plastic bag .
Went to the ER, I had a few punctures and scratches in the impact area .
I was given a couple of injections and prescribed oral medication .
Awaiting tests on the bats to see if they had rabies . :o

I hope that all goes well for you.

Me too Bob, hope that report comes back negative.
I have spent many hours watching bats in your area at rest stops with high light standards and never have I seen 4 bats in a tight enogh formation to hit them at once. The odds of that happening has lots of zero's

Dang, Bob! I too hope the tests turn out positive in your favor. I don't think I've ever heard of anybody running into a bat before. I've clipped a skunk and an armadillo before but never anything that was flying...

Good news Bob :) next time ride one of your LS's with the lil bat deflecter up front ;D

I guess I shouldn't ride at night !!!
I was going 70 mph at the time, I guess their radar sense wasn't up to the task this time .
I was surprised that the results got back to me so quickly, relieved .
The physician stated that he didn't think they were infected, most cases he sees are people messing with a bat that they find, that can't fly or get away from them,
usually children .

Great news, Bob. Just find you a chain-mail vest and keep on crankin'!

Lucky you! We'll been having problems with bats in our area, more often than not, they have rabies. And some of the idjits around here think its fun to try and capture them. ~sigh~

We have a lot of bats in this region, on a warm night, I see bats constantly all night .
There are few bridges that go over dry washes and bats roost under the bridge during the day and just after sunset, they come out by the thousands .
But yeah, leave them alone !!!!! ;)
When the cold weather finally comes, they are off to Mexico .

LOL. Bat-strike!
Avoided a 45 gallon drum, trailer wheel and dog in the past. Got hit in the eye by bluebottle and up the sleeve by wasp (which ended OK for both me and the wasp) but this is new to me.
There isn't much to them is there? Flying mouse, at 70MPH probably not so funny, ouch!
