Well, I did ' inherit ' 87  bottles of bourbon from a neighbor .

Her husband passed away about 6 months ago, no one showed interest in the ' stash ', so I offered to take them off of her hands !!!! ;)

There are bottles of Jack Daniels, going back to the late 1920's just before Prohibition .

But just about all of them have been opened .

And yes ,I have indulged this evening, I'm thinking I won't be up early tomorrow morning !!!!!!!!!!!! ::)

Damn, that's quite a haul. I'm a bit of a whisk(e)y enthusiast. I'd have been very happy to have come across that stash.

Liquor will last a long time but, if they've been opened, they could have been affected by air. It might not be worth the trouble now but if there are any in decent shape that you want to keep around, putting them in a smaller bottle to reduce the head space could help.  Air is the enemy.  Also, be careful of the corks.  I'd imagine a lot of those will be pretty crumbly when you try to open them.  Be prepared with a strainer and a replacement topper as you open.

I've ended up with a couple of elegant coverings of saran-wrap and a rubber band when I didn't have a spare wine cork to jam in there.

I think the majority of it, is uncomsumable, the cork stoppers are brittle and crumbling, if you try to remove them .

I'm going to stop by a beer and wine making store this week and see if they have suitable replacement stoppers .

Temperatures are favorable for working in the garage, 57 F ( 14 C ) this morning, high forecast to be 84 F ( 29 C ) .

This is a lot better than the heat we've had the last 6 months !!!!

Yesterday was the first day since the last week of April, that the air  conditioning / cooling system wasn't on .
