Title: Photo Bucket Site
Post by: Bob_Roller on July 09, 2017, 05:04:46 PM
I have noticed on a few chatrooms, sites like this, that the posted photos are gone and a message from Photobucket is replacing it instead .

Photobucket now charges $399 a year to post photos on a third party site .

I would suggest, that if you have an account with them, download the photos you want to keep to your computer .

Go to the Chit Chat section here and click on Where Is The R65.org Flag, you'll see the notice in the first posting .

I have always recommended to people to use the file area the EVERYBODY gets with their internet account.  The size will vary with provider but I'm pretty sure everybody should have 10 -20 meg, or so...

You can also use free sites such as google or flickr.  I have both, because redundancy is good.  I've got enough photos on google that I'm paying the 20$ yearly fee for expanded space.  More than worth it for automatic backups from my primary camera (smart phone).

What beats me is why people are still attempting to post pictures using photobucket.  The internet is literally awash with the warning notices that Bob mentioned as it seems to be retrospective so that every picture they ever posted is now blocked.

Photobucket as a company is surely dead in the water after this.

All mine have been wiped. Not too fussed as I still have all those photos on my computer, feels like starting with a clean slate...that guy Motu has no photos on the internnet.  What annoys me is it was them that kept telling me to use their fantastic free site - hey, you've only used 1% of your free storage, why don't you  start a new album. It's  the internet, they should've known what would happen.

Probably if you read their "Terms and Conditions" you'll find that once you upload your stuff it actually belongs to them so if people get mad and quit they still got all your stuff they can sell...

That is why I consider anything that I post online to be public domain.

I am not an artist.  If it is technical, it is free to the world.
If it is "art", well, like I said, I don't make my living from my photography, so feel free to enjoy it, if you can!

This is all very interesting and disturbing. I had noticed the pictures on the Flag thread and wondered. I just remembered that I am webmaster for another website that includes a picture page... (http://www.willvillebikecamp.com/campground.htm)

What is interesting, is if you click on those links with the bad pictures for the albums at the top of this page, the slideshow directly on photobucket actually comes up. I was using photobucket because his paid site memory was full (he only has minimal storage).

I guess I need to rework his website.  >:(

Thanks for the offer Justin! I was able to work it out. Turns out he had enough room for me to downsize the pictures and store them where they belong. Just can't click on them and make them big anymore.  ;)
