Title: Spammers
Post by: Bob_Roller on January 14, 2016, 10:26:04 AM
I was in admin mode this morning and saw 5 ' guests ' with IP addresses that were quite close .

Did an IP address check and found them to be from China and they have been blacklisted for being spambots !!!!

Hour and a half later, 17 spammers at the front door !!!!

Good work, Bob. Thanks for booting the ChiCom perps.

Chinese economy has slowed dramatically of late. Stock markets have shut down on some days to slow the rush to sell and further deflate their economy. May be some natives fishing for unsuspecting folks they might swindle.

Danger, Will Robinson. Danger!

Well, I can't prevent spammers from getting in here, I can just observe who is online as a ' guest ' .

Justin has the authority to allow a person to join here .

Hopefully we won't experience what happened in September, 2006, where spammers overtook R65.org and it had to be closed and another site ( this one )  opened in November, 2006 !!!!

I have looked into the error log and find a lot of attempts from a "guest" to view member profiles from a specific subnet.  They have all been blocked by the forum software.  There have also been several who tried to embed a command in what they were attempting which immediately got the IP blacklisted.

So far, so good...

That wasn't me, Justin and Bob. Promise. Trust me. ::)
Must have been a router issue on this end. Couldn't have been my trusty Mac.

Monte I told you they would never believe you were a Nigerian prince just looking to share your wealth.      [smiley=ROTFLMAO.gif]

I just have a Lady to contend with.... I must admit lately there had been a big increase in "spam" bank emails... I ignore them or forward them to my banks "Phishing"  unit but still they come, how many crooks can there be in China ?
