Having suffered a few near misses and outright stupid incident's I am thinking about a camera system for my Bike and van last one was a bus lane on my left which ended where I was turning left (UK Driving on the left)30mph limit as turned in a bike flashed through at about 60 mph barely missing me, it could have been toast for him as I was in my van... plus other stupid incidents while on the bike. Just wondered if anyone had any experience with these and any thoughts. Road Angel is an expensive system but looks good.

I have both a GoPro and an ACT-20.
The Act-20 is now down around $50 on eBay so it is vastly cheaper than the goPro, yet for what I use it for (and what you want) it is entirely serviceable.
Originally bought to mount on my bicycles (my personal driver re-education program one F'wit at a time) the work well on the BMW - I have the ACT-20 set to loop, erasing the oldest 20 minute segment when it fills the 32gig card that is in it. Best of all, the trusty old BMW electrical system is stable enough so that I have installed a couple of USB points which solves battery life problems. I'll post a photo tomorrow of it all ready to head off on a ride.

I am doing a fair bit of work at Pinderfields and the other day, I came under the M1 at J39 and joined the dual carriageway heading into Wakey, just past the garden centre, I was overtaken by a sports bike who must have been doing at least 70. Any mistake by anybody and it would all be over!
I just don't understand some of these guys. Because of where I live, it's sports bike country, they ride those things like idiots, no wonder we have the stats we do for death and injury. It's irresponsible.

I've got mixed feeling about these cameras. On the one hand I can see they could be very useful indeed but I kinda resent the feeling that we are moving to situation where you feel you must have one because of road conditions and to stand any chance of winning an insurance claim.
I suppose the best thing would be for them to be built into all vehicles.

What got me thinking was the bike undertaking me, had he clipped me ( a very close call...inches) he would have been dead and I would have had no witnesses to his stupidity leaving me probably having some level of blame thrown at me.

Around here if you drive/ride much under that you are liable to get run over!

I survived I 10 and the I 45 junction in Houston do you get medals for that? the biggest worry was being overtaken by trucks in the fast lane doing ridicules speeds they are limited to 56mph here.

Lou - Yeah, Houston traffic sux but driving/Surviving LBJ Freeway in Dallas during rush hour is about as miserable as it gets.

I wear a Drift Ghost HD Helmet cam for my own use, rather than any attempt to record any prangs and mishaps with other road users. Its a cracking camera, and is great for recalling any odd thoughts or ideas that pop into your head when you're out and about on the bike.
All that said, because its on the side of the lid it sees what I see and has caught some very amusing things on the road.
