Well, my oilhead got me today, lost my footing in the driveway backing the bike into the garage, slipped fell on my back and the bike fell on top of me . :o
I was pinned under the bike for about 10 minutes until I could wiggle out from under it .
Ibuprofen is my buddy tonight .
I feel like I strained every muscle I have !!!!
I need more beer too !!!!! :D :D :D

I feel for you Bob. I dropped my K75S in the parking garage exit at the airport when my hand slipped from the clutch when I was paying. It jerked, stalled and fell on me in the toll booth. It took the toll booth attendant and the driver of car behind me to get it off of me. Not my best cycling moment.

YIKES!
Hope that you are feeling better Bob and that the Barley Therapy is kicking in.. Keep up the Advil at work tomorrow - those sorts of things have a tendency to hurt alot more the next day.

That's exactly what I was wondering, Bob. ::)
Now then, WE know what actually happened but you, Bob, need to develop a "true story" for your S'West buddies out at Sky Harbor.
"Yeah. Kinda tweaked my back yesterday. Was at the gym practicing a high Herkie-style karate scissor kick and accidently took out my instructor..."
You know. Something believable.
And yes, some 12-ounce medicinal alcohol applied internally. [smiley=beer.gif]

I remember this photo taken in my village, where a Jeepney t-boned this overtaking scooter. It was a very grisly scene.
Now that I have mentioned it, I pretty much see broken/opened heads, decapitated limbs and nasty stains on the asphalt almost every week whenever I commute to school. motorcycles here are too cheap and the average person can buy one without any licence restrictions or prior motorcycle skills. The road has become something like Darwin's theory of evolution where the smart survive and the stupid ones die off.
Oh, and here's that picture I was talking about:

Hmmm... I'm getting this weird craving for a ham sandwich.

Next time Julio says Discretion is advised I'll believe him and not look at the pic.
I'll be riding home from work very carefully today !

Kick starts can be hazardous .
The only bike I have had that had a kick start, was a 400 cc Yamaha, no problem with it .
Went to help out a friend with a 1000 cc Harley Sportster, battery went flat .
Engine kicked back while I was trying to start it and just about got thrown off the bike .
I feel for you Lou, barley therapy and a few ibuprofen should help you this evening !!!!!! ;)

I long ago took a turn hand propping a Comanche 250 with two others. ...Wont do that again.
-
Had to do hand propping when I was going through aircraft mechanics school, wasn't very fond of it in a very controlled environment .
Did one hand prop after that for a general aviation plane owner, that had a starter go bad and not at his home airport .
Havn't done it since 1981 .

Bob, I commiserate fully. When I took the Basic Rider Course in 2007, The loosey-goosey throttle control in the school-provided rice mill got the best of me, and I ended up dropping the bike in such a manner that the crankshaft-end housing landed on the inside of my right leg, halfway between ankle and knee, pinning my leg to the pavement. I couldn't get leverage to extricate myself, and had to endure the indignity of the instructors lifting the bike off me. There was immediat swelling, but no bleeding or pain. Fortunately, the incident occurred the second morning of two full days of road training and testing, and I passed the exam anyway. (The severe swelling, accompanied by a huge black bruise, caused me to spend that night in a hospital emergency room for X-rays, CAT scan, and MRI—the docs were concerned about possible "compartment syndrome," which supposedly can require amputation if not treated surgically.)
Postscript: That experiance not being bad enough, six months later I was running across my lawn to answer a ringing telephone when I fell onto the upturned blade of a garden hoe, injuring the opposite side of my right leg at almost the same distance above the ground. There again was no bleeding, but there was huge swelling and discoloration, this time accompanied by intense pain. The result is that six years later my lower right leg is (perhaps permanently) somewhat larger than the left, and there is dramatic discoloration from instep halfway to knee that has not gone away. As a consequence, I no longer wear shorts outside the house, even in summer heat.
I hope your injury has healed normally.
Afterthought: A distinct advantage of boxer BMWs (with or without engine bars) over vertical twins is that the boxer's protruding jugs can permit a downed rider to wiggle out from under a fallen bike without needing assistance.

I've discovered (on my top-heavy RT-P), since I have the cop roll-bars, that once my "lean angle" exceeds a certain point I'm better off just getting out of the way, hitting the kill switch, and easing it down as softly as I can. I then pick it up and continue on. I have had this happen at some intersections where I either put my left foot in a depression I did not see or my foot flies out from under me on a layer of pea-gravel. Luckily I've only tipped over once in the daylight...
I used to get nailed with it burping, stalling, and boom! This was fixed with a new ($250 worth) set of upper coils...
