The better-half suggested I test my Christmas present before she wraps it. I don't have to be told twice!!!
-
Gee, my wife only gives me a flannel shirt and maybe some DVDs - though one time she did buy me a new MIDI keyboard.. I think I've gotten stuck with the economy model...
-
Nice looking .45 ACP replica. May be the photo angle but is this the 5-inch barrel or the sub-compact 3.5-inch? I've seen them in FTW at Cheaper Than Dirt.
Citadel has gotten some nice reviews of their handguns; made by ARMSCOR in the Phillipines.

Nice. Something I want but don't feel is worth paying for. Perfect Christmas present!
-
It is the 3.5" Compact model. I shot about 120 rounds this afternoon with only one FTF, round #7, it ate every type of profile round I could feed it. Funny thing, the FTF was a FMJ round nose!
We picked this one up at Academy (only a couple miles up the street).

Very nice.... I have "acquired " a new piece too
This was the gun made "infamous" by John Wilkes Booth

Its quite a large bore 45 I think, the mechanism is good and after a clean up and check over I will give it a pop on the range, it is the Philadelphia model Derringer serial number still visible and was given to me by my cousin I have no idea of the value.

Wow Lou, I bet if you had the serial number it might be possible to look up some more info on that antique - the NRA over here has some pretty thorough historians in its ranks and organization.
I see that Pedersoli makes a replica of this original deringer and the retail price on it is almost $400. An original certified antique must be worth that much, or maybe more, I think.
Be careful with it!
-
Lou,
Just don't try to clean it up or re-finish it. That will kill its value as an antique.

Great snag, Lou!

Had a pop at the range today only 45/70 as the pistol range was too busy..... only 1 bull out of 20 shots (100 yards iron sights) but rest on the paper 12" square at that range I don't think its bad and any of the shots would have dropped a buffalo.
Heres one we shot earlier there are a few quick vids at the range followed by a brilliant Whitby busker................
