Found a mid 80's K bike for just a couple hundred bucks in my area..
it needs a clutchplate and a flywheel..
Do you think its worth my time?
Any thoughts at all are welcome!

Its a complicated beasty.
How much?
How much are the parts?
How much mileage?
Can you do the job yourself?
I assume its a K100 16v without ABS - no bad thing.
I had a very early K100RS, had for 2 years and covered 40,000 miles. A great beast of a thing, handled like a cruise missile, heavy, fast and would go round corners....eventually, counter steering becomes an art.

Looks like a K75C fairing and a belly pan. An interesting combo. Corbin style comfy seat and panniers. Clutch and flywheel will involving splitting the gearbox from the engine but manageable as long as you put some time aside.

The K's owner has obviously hit the wall with this bike and doesn't want to invest another dime in it. Grab it. With the clutch parts replaced, you could ride it or flip it for substantially more moolah. I love deals like this.
I have to believe you are confident in your own wrench twistin' skills. Paying to have this work done would be a deal breaker for me.

It's impossible to have too many motorcycles (says the man with two in the garage that he hasn't managed to spend any time on this summer).
I like the old K's and would buy one in a heartbeat - esp the K100RS. Love the styling on them.
Missed out on a K100RS 16V last year by half an hour and I was gutted :'(

The only sniggly issue I am aware of on these bikes concerns a jackshaft in the engine that has a tendency to wear or break somewhere in the 150K-200K mileage range. My cousin's bike, which had otherwise managed over 250K miles with him with only a clutch, a fuel injector, and a final drive replaced over that interval (aside from tires, bulbs, oil and filters of course), finally succumbed to that malady. The shaft is waaaaaay inside of things, and the part costs a few hundres of dollars and requires alot of presses, pullers, etc. and labor to replace - it was alot easier and cheaper by far to just buy a low mileage donor engine.
They do go like a cruise missile. I *almost* bought one before I bought my Kawasaki concours. I like the concours slightly better for the fairing it comes with, and I think it handles just a tiny bit easier. But the K100 is still a solid, fast bike.
