I know you said it doesn't leak oil, but have you checked to see that it has any in it at all?  ;D

Congrats!  Looks good and looks like lots of fun.

Something about a Victor is so quintessentially "motorcycle" they are among my favorite cool bikes - and the Starfire looks much like it, too!

We'll want to hear the full story on this one!

i bought it in big lumps and its just loosely assembled , but is 99% complete , hopefully the engine doesn't need too much fettling , re-ring it and such. got it for £600 . yes i've always liked the styling too! isn't the tank the best ever?

This is forum member Bengt Phorqs' 1968 Triumph 25W. Note the strong similarity to livingdeadhead's 1970 Beezer.

Around this time period in British motorcycle history, AMC had taken control of the remaining firms still hanging on. BSA and Triumph were now owned by the same parent company, hence these bikes shared bitsa this n' bitsa that from the same parts bin.

There is a sad tale in the book "Shooting Star-The Rise and Fall of the British Motorcycle Industry" where Triumph's man Ed Turner, after touring a couple japanese motorcycle factories, releases a report to the  Brit motorcycle industry management that states, "We have nothing to fear from the Japanese."

Look at what I stumbled across in my old email!

I know it's no daily runner, but it sure is pretty! (It's not a 250, either...)

He won't, he's getting too old!   Looks like an ornament for the sitting room.  A nice ornament though.  But where are the fenders?

If it was a woman, I would not have the patience or the cash to entertain her!

Cheers

Lucky_Lou,

We are all getting older.

I am still all for the simple/pure look, but as a UK rider, there are things that I will not do without - mudguards, for example (fenders to you 'Yanks').  Nothing like turning up to your destination with a wet muddy stripe up your back....And your front.

Not to mention all the engine cleaning after that front wheel has flicked up all the road grunge onto it!

As Monti says, 'Trailor Queen'

Here endeth the lesson...

Wonder of wonders!   I found a 441 Beeza for sale right near me!    But, my wife would surely kill me...  looks like it needs alot of cosmetic attention anyhow, but I'll put the link here in case there are any Brit-philes in the New Hampshire area...

{Edit - AND, I found a very nice looking bike - would it be a "Treesa" or a "Bumph" just over in Biddeford, ME...}

Looks like a 1970 Starfire.  Non standard rear wheel but don't lose it.  That Boriani(Dunlop) Rim is worth some.

I just rescued a 6 volt 1964 BSA Lightning Rocket out of a basement where it is has been hiding for 15 years.

Original paint:

And then there is the 1971 Thunderbolt I rode to Cape Cod and back (Atlanta).

What ever you do don't get a BSA.  They are more addictive than a BMW.   :D

I had 441 BSA for some years. It was lovely to ride and I still regret selling it. It proved totally reliable but did have two problems: too cramped to take a passenger. And oil consumption which varied wildly for no apparent reason (it did not leak at all).

Yep, that's my project bike.  Well one of them anyhow, but the Husky 410 is another matter.  Mine is a TR25W, the 250cc scrambler.  IF I can ever get Mr. Lucas, the good buddy of darkness, to cooperate I'll get that sucker running again.  The neat thing is the 250 Triumph, actually made by BSA, shares the same everything with the Victor 441 except the top end.  Once I finish this assignment in Romania I'll get focused on getting her running again.

acyually the bottom end is different , i looked into uprating mine to a 440 but it really hard work , i think it's possible but its cheaper to just buy a engine .:-( apparently theres only 4 hp more but loads more torque and funnily the 250 is slightly faster? about 3 mph lol .
