Title: BT45 front tires in 100/90x18 are NLA
Post by: nhmaf on June 18, 2013, 11:12:29 PM
Among my various projects in simultaneous progress, I had stripped the old chipping & peeling paint off my R65LS's wheels, sanded & repainted them and got new rubber installed.   I was very pleased with the wet and dry handling of the Bridgestone Battlax BT45 tires which I had been running on the bike the past few years (100/90x18 front, 110/90x18 rear) and wanted to get the exact same tires/tyres/tars... BUT!

Although I could (and did) still buy a 110/90x18 for the rear, the available options for the front tires in this model (unless you buy old stock) are either 90/90x18 or 100/80x18 (note lower ratio profile).   I was going to go with the 90/90, but the guy at the shop thought it would be better with the slightly wider LS rim to get the 100/80 for width, and just deal with the slightly lower front end height.

As I am now in the process of sorting out and rebuilding my damper assemblies and replacing forks seals, a ride report is still a few days away.   I just wanted to get the word out that the front BT45 tire size options have changed.   I think that we still have the appropriate sizes in the Spitfire S11 tire, and others, too.

I think I used a 90/90 on mine, and it handled fine.  But mine is not an LS.

I think that the 90/90 would have been OK too.   But the fitment info we had did show the 100/80 was fine on the slightly wider LS rim, too.
