Title: Leaking Left Carb
Post by: joshr65 on October 05, 2008, 11:46:04 PM
When bike is not running and petcock is open. Stops when I turn off fuel. I guess bad float valve or sticking pin? Any advice before I open up? Or just leave as is and remember to turn off fuel?

Thanks!

Josh

its a problem ive had before. firstly the float has to be set up properly, and secondly the carb has to be level, if it is inclined towards the block it will disturb the float and leak.

see: http://www.cdegroot.com/cgi-bin/mirror/pweb.jps.net/~snowbum/bingcv.htm

and lastly, I turn off the fuel just to be safe  ;D

...plus the float pivot pin could be binding, the floats could be "gas-logged", the float needle seat could have crap in it from a deteriorating fuel line, and/or the float needle could be shot.  Bing advised me that the actual seat would be the last suspect as seats in carbs with rubber tipped needles will last virtually for ever.
