Title: RST Paragon II

I'm thinking of getting a RST Paragon II jacket - are they any good?

Dont know about them but Hein Gericke usualy have a sale on eBay about this time of year.Its good gear.

Thanks Lou, yep I know about HG kit - I had a set of their leathers that lasted 3 years until I 'outgrew' them  ;) They were still like new.

And I have a leather 'street' jacket that I bought at least 10 years ago, have never cleaned or treated it, and it still looks like new. Can't fault the quality of their leather kit, I was just wondering about the textile stuff as things have moved along now and I'm after an all season textile jacket that can genuinely cope with icy weather (I hate being cold and wet on a bike).

The Paragon has had good reviews but I always ask around before buying - I've found a place that is selling them at £140 rather than £180-220 for the current version - I guess I've lived in Yorkshire for too long  ;) ;D

Leather is a great investment. My leather jacket, boots and gloves date from 1982 - almost as old as the bike. I keep repairing them but the jacket needs a new lining which is going to be a major undertaking. I've been riding in a bright yellow Hi Vis fluorescent jacket in the winter. which I've got to admit makes more sense than black leather.

I bought a zip up Hi Vis waistcoat XL which i wear over my leathers practical and functional you can ditch it when you get where your going.

If you aren't crazy about leather -- a couple of years ago I bought a (Cordura type) Rev'It jacket from a local Honda dealer.  It turns out warm, with detachable lining, dry and smart. In fact easily the smartest and best-fitting jacket I've ever owned and I bought my first one around 1963, in the days of PVC kit. Better late than never I guess.
