Got to 26 F, -3 C this morning in my backyard, wireless thermometer mounted on an exhaust vent about 6 feet, 2 meters off the ground .
When it got light out, saw ice covering the pool, that's a first for me, ice was 3-4 mm thick .
With usually leaving for work at 0515, I don't see if there is ice on the pool, by the time I get home, it's melted .

I have a wireless rain gauge on the patio at ground level, it has a thermometer in it as well, the low it had was 20 F, -7 C.
-
Was also pretty frosty at the Phoenix round of AMA Supercross.
Those Monster Energy girls had their "high beams" on, fer sure ::).
-
I'm assuming you don't often get cold weather?!!?
-
It's been about three years since it's gotten this cold .
Usual lows for this time of year are around low 40's F., 5 C.
-
We have a Freeze Guard on the pool that kicks the pump in when the temps get down around 35F. It was 26F here this morning as well but at least the wind was light. This time of year in North Texas can bring anything from about 80F to sleet, snow, rain and hail.

You will have us feeling sorry for you with such "extreme" weather events
http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/01/15/los-angeles-cold-weather-jimmy-kimmel-funny-video_n_2477381.html
we are forecast areas of -12c tonight thats 10 f with lying snow and expect more snow at the weekend, main roads are ok and gritted but you take your life in your hands if you go off the beaten track, and it looks like its in for a .............. fortnight. 4 wheels for the moment just to be safe.
Spent 3 hours working on a car wash in the snow this morning, got to go to a job up north tomorrow..... that should be fun
Lou
Clear skies plummeting temperatures Thursday forecast is -6c at noon, duvet day me thinks,

At the risk of sounding ungrateful, I could do with a little cold weather where I live (coast of Georgia). It is usually mid to upper 30's F at night and mid to upper 40's F days this time of year. It usually doesn't start to warm up until close to Easter.
It has been mid 70's F nights and low 80's F since the first of the year. Flowers have started to bloom, the grass is turning green and if it doesn't stop I will have to get the mower out of the shed in a couple of weeks.
It doesn't make for nice riding weather though. :P

Last Friday, Pretty Wife and I rode out for lunch under sunny sky and 70+ degrees.
What the heck happened four days later? Freakin' snow.

Looks like your flamencos didn't fly south for the winter! [smiley=ROTFLMAO.gif]
Man, it's cold enough here to make a Yuppie untie the sweater from around his neck! And the possibility of more tomorrow.

I stopped for lunch on a favourite back road between Spofforth and Kirk Dieghton in a quite lay by, it was -3c with freezing fog at 1pm the ground was frozen solid, temperatures hit -12.5c last night, no work on tomorrow so i may play with the brakes on my "K"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spofforth,_North_Yorkshire
Blind Jack is mentioned in the "wiki" there is a lovely little pub in Knaresborough named after him.
I dare say i would find the summer temperatures in Pheonix pretty extreme

I was born, raised and lived in the Chicago area for 37 years .
I adapted to the heat quite readily .
My job requires me to work outside about 90% of the time .
There was a news story a few years ago, on the migration of people within the US .
This focused on movement between city pairs .
There were 5 times the amount of people moving between Chicago and Phoenix, than the 'norm' for the country .
They said it was the 'fire and ice' syndrome, people in Phoenix have had it with hot weather and the people in Chicago have had it with cold weather .
I for one, am not leaving this 'suburb of hell' that I call home . ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Bob, it looks like you sent your cold weather here to New Jersey. Today's high will be around 20 degree F, wind chill at around 10 degree F. Expecting 10 degree F tonight (wind chill around 2).
[sarcasm] Thanks. [/scarcasm]
-
Our "high" temperature here today was late this morning, +5F (-15C). We're expecting it to get down to about -23C tonight. This, along with 30km/h winds is making it feely downright chilly, even in the sunshine!
-
I've never experienced temperatures that low. That is seriously cold.
Hope you have good antifreeze in your car and good insulation in your house.
-
Well, at least its a humid, cold.
-
Humid, dry it makes no difference. Cold is cold. I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska for almost 8 years and it would get to -40F and stay there for 5-6 weeks at a time. When it "warmed up" to 0F we would be outside in short sleeved shirts. Ah the things we do when we are young and foolish. And that is why I live in the ocean breezes on the FL/GA coast.

Winter 2010 we had - 23c here thats the coldest i have ever known, funny though it did not feel that bad, i went to the Yorkshire Bike forum Christmas meet at Squires on the Bike it was -5c (lunchtime) with the right gear it was a good ride but was shocked when i found i was the only one on a bike all the others turned up in their 4x4,s.
