Some outsiders would ask, what were they (Germany) thinking in the first place.
I'd like to see my beloved United States make coveted products once again, like Germany does. All we have now is silly tech companies that produce nothing but tons of garbage for the masses and billions of dollars for a few.

I used to sell Cat pumps and spares i thought they were a great American product best pump on the market, better than the Italian crap untill i found out they were made in Japan and only assembled in the States......hey ho a bit of slick marketing

Drifting a bit off topic perhaps I am but, Lou, your Japanese pump parts assembled in the USA reminds me of the many foreign-sourced major and minor components that make up my Triumph Triple.
In Hinckley, the word is, "Assembled in England by British hands". And even that may be a bit of a stretch. ::)

Actually, some of the Trumpets are produced in Thailand - probably by Strumpets from Pattpong. Ergo, Strumpet Trumpets!
