About that cute little pistol I confiscated a couple of weeks ago and have found out that while firearms are illegal here, pointy/sharp weapons are not. After a bit of sourcing, and finding a good machine shop. I created this little gem.
It weighs in at 2.1 kg and the wood bit is teak. The blade is a fencing sabre blade, cut down to 64 cm. I made 2 and gave one to a friend who has been burgled 3 times this year.
I call it 'The Equaliser".
Am now working on a mounting system so I can carry it on the bike - The ultimate defensive driving tool!

This reminds me of one of the Sherlock Holmes stories (can't remember which it was right now). A visitor to Holmes finds him out, and after waiting a bit, leaves. But he leaves his walking stick behind, and when Holmes and Watson return, they speculate on the nature of their visitor.
Holmes observes that the stick is of the type known as a "Panang Lawyer", which has a large head that is lead filled. I've always thought that name was a wonderful euphemism for a cudgel!

If you can find some epees their blades are a bit more sturdy.
Is Bali one of those countries where it's pretty much illegal to defend yourself with deadly force? Some of the stuff I gleaned from the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books made it sound like in Sweden, you better just run away or let them kill you.

Here is one i have for reenactments, it has no hidden blade but could do a lot of damage especially as i have 2 shotguns for backup.
It seems in recent cases here in the UK the worm has turned as Burglars are now in season.

I'm glad you can 'open' or 'conceal' carry a firearm in the state of Aridzona, without fear of being in violation of the law .
With a few exceptions, government buildings, banks and schools .
You'd be amazed how courteous drivers are when they see a shotgun strapped to a motorcycle !!!!!! [smiley=rifle.gif] :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
I've been thinking about making up two replicas of Sidewinder air to air missles and mounting them on the oilhead, just to see the reaction of drivers .
I think I would be talking to local law enforcement officers about the 'error' in my thinking !!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

As silly as Sandland is , we got some things right. I used to carry a .357 Ruger Blackhawk. Looked like a cannon strapped to my hip. The Smith and Wesson 9mm that I carry now is a better gun but half the size. I wear it on my hip when riding, people SEE me much better with a gun. My riding buddy carries a old school "dirty harry" 44 mag in a sholder rig, It parts cars like Moses at the red sea.

Now, Bob, that's not a bad idea! I have quite a few heavy duty mailing tube that metal stock was shipped in and I think I could make up something rather scary looking.
