My good friend Les who did the Wooton Bassett bike run with me and other events has had a disaster he was getting his RV ready for an outing when it caught fire destroying the scooter and setting fire to the side of his house garage and his Jag.
Unfortunately many of his instruments were lost as well.
Heres a clip of him on Mandolin

Fortunately no one was hurt but the insurance company are giving them a hard time

Good to hear no one was injured .
Any idea what started the fire ?
-
Yikes, glad that no one was hurt - it certainly is a mess when multiple policies (RV, motorcycle, home) get involved, especially if they happen to be different companies.
-
Wow - I've never seen a burnt out RV before. I wouldn't want to be inside!
Too bad about the musical instruments.
-
man, that's a tough deal.
enjoyed the video clip, but not the news of the mandolin's demise.
i had a chimney fire a few years back...the 1st thing i grabbed out of the house was my guitar.

Let's see - cat first, then the record collection. I really should sort them according to importance rather than alphabetically - that way I need only grab the important ones! :)

They think it was the fridge, we had some high old times with them in the RV great jam sessions, Les would sing play Guitar Mandolin or Banjo, his wife Barbara had a beautiful Uke (irreplaceable inset with mother of pearl) and a terrific jazz singer i struggled along trying to keep up with 3 chords and enthusiasm.
We always had "Guest" musicians as Les was well connected with the musicians where ever we went.

So he used to be a fellow reinactor? (at least until the insurance co. buys him a new kit!)

Yes he is starting from scratch as all the gear was on the RV... found a picture from one event when we had a Session in the saloon the guy playing guitar in the foreground is a "Django" our resident Jazz player and it was the first time i had heard Barbara sing in that style she was brilliant........Bet you like the prices
