Don't know if anyone here tunes into the television program Extreme Home Makeover, on one of the Discovery channels .
The latest program is scheduled to air in the US tonight .
We heard about this a few months ago at work (Southwest Airlines), they took a section of fuselage from one of our 737's that was retired in late 2010 and somehow are incorporating it into a home, should prove to be an interesting end product .

I worked on the production crew on that show when they shot in vegas.they tore down a nicer house than mine and built a new one which the family promply sold.

Interesting show, but as Randall notes, there are some back stories that are often strange.
My wife just returned from a visit to her mom in Arkansas. Local TV out of Shreveport, Louisiana, reported that an Extreme Makeover family and their new home are in foreclosure. Report stated the family cannot even make the utility bills on their new free home.
Anyone have details on how this new home giveaway really works? Does the family pick up the construction materials tab? Is the new crib considered income by the IRS with taxes due? Who is really paying for the home? Inquiring minds and all that...
BTW, Anyone else remember the original premise of the show? The handyman TV "stars" rehabilitated the lucky family's existing home. Now, it's demo and all new. I've not watched the show in quite awhile.

The Guy who resprayed Gertie for me did a self build home which featured on a home improvement program, a local company offered to block pave his driveway and paths around the house free of charge if they could put an advertisement board up.
He agreed but didnt tell them they had finished filming until they had finished the job...He let them put the board up for a couple of weeks anyway. A bit of Yorkshire nowce me thinks.

While it might be nice to have a 'brand new' state of the art home, I think I'd pass. While our house isn't any fancy, its paid for. Well, except for the taxes, and ours just went up 82% this year. No improvements, nothing. Just a HOLY C&*P moment when we opened the envelope from the assessor's office and saw that they decided to up the value of the property. ~sigh~

That is sad, Dee. I think the people that were native to this land had a much better philosophy regarding land "ownership".
Europeans (and their descendants) are so greedy.
