Hi all!
About to replace my split driveshaft gaitor. Does the swingarm need to come right off, or can I undo the bolts, fit the new gaitor through the gap, and then tighten up the new bolts?

I think that would work. I'm pretty sure that's the way I did mine, but it's been awhile. It's a little tricky to get the gator back on just right, just be patient. And be sure to have new bolts to replace the ones you take out as they are stretch bolts.

I personally think that it would be much easier to pull the swingarm pivots, just loosen the shock absorber mounting bolts and unscrew the rear brake control rod and you could swing the rear arm pretty far back. But, I have also heard that it can be done without doing this. As Msbuck said, PATIENCE (and alot of it) will be needed. Your fingertips/knuckles will probably be sore afterwards. Good luck, and consider maybe taking a pic or two and writing up how you did it for our tech section !
