A week ago we had an American visitor burying his nuts in the garden the first two photos show the scene then and now.Yesterday i braved the A642 to do some work, this morning i quit as the snow was falling faster than i could clear it, hey ho dreaming of warmer climes ....Aridzona , Texas or even NZ which looks attractive at this time of year.
Looks like i will have to buy Gertie some thermals if im going to get another ride this year.

Got that white stuff on our side of the hill as well Lou so I've given up the struggle and put the bike into hibernation early. Tucked up cosy in a heated garage with it's bowls (bowels) empty and a protective blanket of waxoyl. Last year it was only for 5 weeks. This year I reckon it will be more like 10.

Dav thanks for the offer but i would worry the old girl wouldn't want to come home.Unlike the Ashes lol [smiley=beehive.gif]
Barry i usually give everything a good squirt with WD40 but im open to suggestions for protective ideas during layup...looks like i made the right decision looking at the traffic reports, i will be lucky to see out of the windows tomorrow at the rate its coming down. We have a complete white out at the moment and i wonder if ill ever get to use the barbecue again?? we've six inches today since this photo was taken.

Lou,
Waxoyl has been around for decades. I have whats left of a 5 litre I mean gallon tin (Litres weren't invented when I bought this). It's really meant for rust proofing cars. Spray it or brush it on and the solvent evaporates to leave a coating of rust proofing wax that doesn't easily wash off in the rain but will come off with hot water in the spring.(http://)

Sad as it is, I'm somehow envious of your snow and cold weather. What I mean is, I'm trying to stack projects up so that I can do as much as possible in a day and get the bike back to operational mode by the end of that day, so I can ride it for a few more days or another week before taking it down for another day of work.
If I had a solid two months to work on her, I could really tear her apart and get what I need to get done.
Oh well. As it is, I'll likely end up buying another bike just to have something to ride while the other is worked on.

Wow - you chaps across the pond have more snow than we do right now here in "new" england - that's is pretty unusual for us!

Weve had over 3ft in parts of Yorkshire in less than 48 hours, what gets me is people who bitch and moan that roads are not clear wonder what planet there on.

When I lived Beaconsfield in the 60's the most we ever saw was 1/2".
Astonding weather! Call up the Finns. I'm sure they have got knobbies with studs to keep you riding! ;)

Ah, these Emerald Isles. Gotta admit, Lou... I really did not know you cats can get that much snow! OK, OK... North Sea and all that cold water, Scandinavia just north of you, northern latitudes... who knew? :)
I absolutely hate cold weather. We're at about 66 degrees F and clear skies with calm wind... and I'm wearing my leather flight jacket.
Stay safe, my friend. Play with the grandkids. Work can wait. Priorities and all that...

Lou, you guys look like Buffalo, NY which just got 100cm of the white stuff. I have only about 4-5 inches solid everywhere so I want to get at it to make sure there is always a cleared route to get the bikes outta the shed in case of fire or.... ::)...nah...that's not a good idea!
Up here beside Georgian Bay we get huge lake effect snow from Lake Huron. It becomes my winter job! We mostly missed the Buffalo dump though.

All good practice for my next job....Ice Road Trucker.
At least the kids will have some fun this weekend with grandad but we now have to watch whats falling from the roof as Chloe demonstrates........
I suspect this is the beginning of the next ice age as we havent had winters like these last two since the 1960,s -15c last night.
