Two Guns, Arizona is about 35 miles east of Flagstaff, Arizona on Interstate 40 at exit 230 .

Flagstaff is about 160 miles north of Phoenix and 6,000 feet higher in elevation .

Two Guns is 3 miles west of the exit for Meteor Crater, a big hole in the ground created by, you guessed it, a large meteor about 50,000 years ago .

The first picture is Sedona, Arizona about 120 miles north/northwest of Phoenix .

The second picture is Winona, Arizona about 15 miles east of Flagstaff, it's mentioned in the song 'Get Your Kicks On Route 66', by the Rolling Stones sometime in the late 60's / early 70's .

The fourth picture is Arizona Route 89A in the Sedona area .

Well, while we're in the area there's another small town called Winslow, it's 23 miles east of Two Guns .

It was somewhat imortalized in the rock group Eagles song 'Take It Easy', the line was 'Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona ........', you probably know the rest .

Just in case you don't remember the song .

The town even erected a statue in tribute to the song .

Gun Barrel City, Texas, is just a short hop from my house. Come on over, Lou. We'll do Fredericksburg, TX, and the single action shop down there. Pistols, long guns, period-correct clothing... Bring a little cash, we'll have a bash. Did I mention there's two R65s in my shop?

He can head farther north to Page, AZ and visit the memorial to my birth.  At least, I assume there is one.

Several years ago I flew out to Las Vegas to help my sister & bro-in-law move to Indiana.  I was driving Dave's truck.
Shortly after leaving Flagstaff on I40, I saw a sign for Meteor Crater Rd.  WOW! I thought!  So I took the detour.  Well worth it! :)  What a nice surprise!

By coincidence the Barringer Meteorite Crater featured in a BBC documentary last night  - "Horizon: Asteroids - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"

There were some very impressive flyby shots of the crater. I'd love to see it one day.

Meteor Crater is definitely an interesting place to visit, and Sedona is some might fine/picturesque scenery -and if you head just ~ 2 hours north of Flagstaff you can visit the south rim of the Grand Canyon, which, IMHO is awful darn pretty, too!

Maybe someday I'll ride a motorcycle down there and back - not this year though.  Would make a nice trip!

Lucky Lou...how do I post a picture in the smaller format like the ones attached to this post? I want to post a couple of pictures of my Frankenbeemer's new engine. I tried posting a photo and it eneded up being about 2 feet in width (not over exaggerated...much), so I deleted the post.
Thanks in advance, Alex in Ohio

I'm sure Lou will tell you how he does it but in the mean time...

You have 2 options:

Take the picture with a low resolution setting on your camera. Something like 640 x 480 pixels is a common setting (Lou's picture is 720 x 540 pixels).

Take the picture at high resolution and then re-size using a software program which will usually also let you crop the image to just what you want.  I use picasa or paint.net both very simple programs and free to download. There are many others.

Thanks Barry...I appreciate the info and will post a photo. I'm also going to create an album on Coppermine to show the progress of the project. I have never done any major work to either of the BMWs I've owned, but I figure a Haynes manual and a few cold beers will solve many of the issues I'll encounter (beer solves a lot of things...).

Hi Alex
You will notice that some times when photos are posted it expands the page and you have to move the screen across to get it,
If you look in the General anouncments topic yet another new member from Sydney first post on page 2, i forgot to resize that and you can see what impact that has on the post.
i resize mine usualy on photobucket using the "Crop" function in the edit options. You pick a starting "Corner "of your picture press and hold the left mouse button move the cursor across the photo it will outline the subject area then save it when you reach the desired size.
I usualy size them to 400x300 i dont think this pixels as that depends on the original camera settings maybe someone can confirm that.Once youve edited it you have the option to download and re title it which will then put it in your pictures folder ready for posting.
If its any constellation i am on the YBF forum and still cannot get a picture up on that
Lou
BTW Les is now in NZ he says he has some BMW bike pictures to send me (would have been pushing it a bit if i asked for only Airheads bless him)
so i will post them when i get them

Yes, set the image size to "small pc screen" or 800x600 and you'll get a decent sized pic that won't blow out the side of the usual forum browser screen..
