Due to old age, I suppose, the rubber nipple covering my trip meter reset button has perished totally. Now the rain gets in, Aaarrrgh! Anyone ideas for a substitute please.
Thanks

Some of us have been looking for replacements/substitutes for this little rubber thingie off and on for a while.
Suecanada had a possible solution, I think, but to my knowledge we haven't found an off the shelf, easily
found replacement. I suppose that if you contact the people at Palo Alto Speedo
http://www.paspeedo.com/bmw.htm
they *might* sell you just a replacement rubber bit, but I wouldn't keep my hopes up. They do a good job of
repairing speedometers, though.

Tarrraaaa!
A perfect replacement for the trip counter reset button sits only a few inches away from the instruments....
The RUBBER DUST COVER FOR THE BRAKE CALIPER BLEED NIPPLE IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT FOR THE JOB.
It sticks on beautifully with a bit of super glue and looks just right.
I cant believe it's taken so long to spot this. ::)

Isn't rather "stiff"? I was thinking a waterproof nipple for a toggle switch but never got around to ordering any...
-
Yes, I was also looking into some industrial electronics catalogs for waterproof switchcovers, but hadn't found one small enough yet...
-
The bleed nipple cover I used works perfectly. I highly recommend it and it's not at all stiff.
But then of course, it is 26 years old :) :)
-
I know there's a joke in there somewhere... 8-)
[smiley=evil.gif] I guess if it ain't stiff after that long it ain't never gonna get stiff!! [smiley=evil.gif]

OK, which bleeder nipple cover do you have? Is it a stock BNMW item or an aftermarket one. I looked at a couple I have laying around and they are quite "thick" and rather inflexible... Post a pic with it installed!

This is the chap. A standard brembo dust cover. Loads of them at my 'local' Ducati dealership. ;)
Note, kph stickers, all ready for start of alpine tour and Oktoberfest next week. Yahoooo !!!!

OK, I'm gonna have to find me a couple of those... Great substitution work!
