I know, I know.... Half the time those New Year's resolutions we all make don't last past the first week or month, let alone a year or better. I generally set the bar way too damn high for myself, just inviting failure to "come on down!"
I usually haven't put forth resolutions relating to riding motorcycles (except "ride more often", perhaps). However, I am going to try to put one down and try my best to keep up doing it. And that resolution is to check my air pressure once a week, every week.
I get so lazy in this regard that I sometimes let months go before dragging my sorry butt to an air pump at a convenience store and plunking down 50 cents to check the pressure. I've always been lucky in that I'm usually not more than a few pounds below the recommended air pressure. But I also know that a few pounds below what you are supposed to have in the tires translates into reduced gas mileage and faster wear on the tire tread. (Maybe it's because I hate getting down on my old knees and fumbling around with the valve caps!) ::)
But I have decided that this just might be a "baby step" that I can live with! I'm not gonna kid myself and say I will preform this check more often than once a week. Hell, I won't even last a week! ;D
So anyway, that's MY New Year's resolution. Any other folks out there who have one of their own to share? :-?

John, why don't you resolute to get yourself a tire pressure gauge and a small compressor pump, or even a manual bicycle pump? I've got a Slime pump that hooks directly onto my Battery Tender leads, cost about $10 with the rebate, and is smaller than the average paperback book.
For probably 20 bucks, you can check the tires in the comfort and privacy of your own garage. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
And I'm still working on resolutions for myself, if I even make any.
Gosh knows I need to, but still... ;)

+1 on the Slime pump. Santa (that would be me) had the foresight to put one under the tree this year so that I would never be without one again whilst on the road. I had a couple of instances this past year with tire trouble.

My one resolution this year is to make sure I give myself a weekend. I'm so bad about working all the time now that I'm doing so much of it at home. Gotta remember that rest is essential...plus I'll need the time to do MORE RIDING... 8-)

+2 on the Slime Pump - compact enough to keep on the bike. Heck, at least get a tire gauge so you can check the pressure. ::)

I might have some, but haven't put them down on paper yet. I used to do it all the time and then forget about it. At the end of the year I'd realize that I'd actually accomplished some of it.
Mostly I want to get myself in shape so I can ride farther and longer. I need to be able to get to Redmond Oregon this summer. 8-) And if I get a job I'll probably have to get there and back faster than I would like.
The other ones just have to do with getting rid of all the extra "stuff" I don't need and painting the inside of my house.
I guess I'd better get started on these..................tomorrow! ::)
