Title: Green Issues....
Post by: Lucky_Lou on November 26, 2009, 02:47:19 PM
Ok point taken we digressed a bit on the technicalities of air injection how many examples are there out there of OTT engineering or alternative systems to promote green issues that frankly are a waste of space and do more harm than good.
Ill start this off with Carbon Trading....is it me or is the concept of this just an excuse to allow those that can afford it to use what they want when they want it??
Follow that with Carbon Capture!!! totally unsustainable concept.

We are a temporary species living a temporary existence on a temporary planet.

The universe is god's recycle-er.

With all of the cataclysms that this planet has endured over the last 4.5 billion years .

No matter how bad we f*** up this place we call home, we and all traces of our existence will be buried in time, and the earth will continue on and thrive, in spite of us .

We can't 'hurt' the earth, we can only kill ourselves off earlier than necessary .

ETS? The scheme is so simple....but I fail to grasp it at all.I think we kill all our cows and let the native forest regenerate. But then how do we earn a living?

Basically, all I need to know is that if I plant a tree, then I can ride my bike for a year.

Bob, you nailed it!!  Cap and Trade/Carbon Credits/Etc.  it's all just another way for the various governments to extract more money from US and give it to the BOZOs that help them stay in power.  I have just about had all I can stand from phony science, fraudulent research, crooked politicians, Algore and his band of greedy enviro-wackos...  One of these days I'm gonna get angry and just snap - "...you won't like me if I get angry..."  I need to go take a blood pressure pill

I think there's a lot more money in the extractive and polluting industries than there is in the enviro-wacko sectors.

Well ya have yer green issues. Ya have yer political issues. Ya have a debate on what is science or who holds the truth. There is Left and Right and everyone has an opinion. I like this board. I like the environment. I'll just go with an old Italian saying and bow out.
Non merda dove si mangia

My daughter who studied Italian says: Don't crap where you eat! Sound advice but looking at the state of the world hard to follow.

greetings from a grey and clammy north (due to the co2 induced warming of the globe)

This is why I don't talk politics with the entire rest of my family - because I'm on the wrong side!

(The side that likes to ride motorcycles)   8-)

Yo, Gumby Bill. Aren't we your family, too? You can get down and political here abouts and we'll still be your family.

It's like the ABC; we respect your opinions.     Monte

Me thinks it's too late and grumping about it is a waist of time.

I'd rather go riding (while I'm still allowed to ride).

Any *YES* bmwr65.org is a family (a good family).

All are welcome and as such the political stuff diminishes that one aspect that makes this place a safe haven for us all.  So although it severely tests me I will continue to resist rising to the political bait and instead comment on things that matter like undocumented 6mm clutch carrier bolts in the 1979-1980 heavy flywheel R65 and what kind of oil goes into the bike and where and when and how.

Those are threads worth the time of day.

SemperFi.

I am just wondering if Copenhagen, or the committee that is meeting there, is going to pay the world back for all the greenhouse gas emissions that are created by all those people traveling there for the mtg.

Obama is travelling by personal 747 to Copenhagen and back for this meeting, and then to Norway and back, all within a week..  Kinda makes riding an R65 year round seem pretty trivial in comparison of carbon footprints...

I heard the back-up Air Force One flies the same general path, in case there is an emergency landing.   ::)

I don't know if it is true.

The last time Obama visited Copenhagen a few weeks back, ms Obama came on the back up two days ahead and flew back with her husband. As he brings his own cars, security, and service personel at least three big planes were used on that occasion. Add to this the seperate plane of the journalists following him a total of four planes were in use for a visit lasting eight hours.

As a concluding remark I might point out that most of the Danish police force were moved to Copenhagen to guard him involving a minor CO2 emission.

And now he is arriving again next week!

greetings from a (due to Obama's travel activities) very warm  north  :o
