Title: Camp Chair Recommendation
Post by: StanG on June 15, 2009, 09:12:33 AM
I am going to purchase a new camp chair for the MOA rally trip.  Looking for something that is easy to pack on the bike yet is still comfortable.  I like a chair with a little lean to the back so you don't have to sit straight up.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.

The Kermit Chair is pretty hard to beat for packing on a motorcycle and for comfort.  It isn't cheap though but they are very well built.  I imagine that the guy that bought the business from Kermit will be at the rally so wait until you get there and you only have to carry it back.

[smiley=thumbsup.gif] on the Kermit Chair!  It's the best.  We've had ours for over 15 years and they're still going strong.  So that makes the price a little more bearable.  It's worth the price in my estimation as far as comfort and packability.  You can get leg extensions that raise it up to a more normal level.

Bengt makes a good suggestion to wait for the rally and pick it up there.  There used to be another vendor that would sew your name into the back.  You could test it out there as well - that'll make up your mind!   8-)

I once thought it would be a great idea if someone would come up with a fairly decent-sized, waterproof duffel bag that you could put your stuff in while on the bike, but which you could empty out at your destination and inflate the thing to make a chair/lounge out of while there.   Haven't seen one though..
+1 on the Kermit chair idea - though if you get to the rally late, you may be outta luck as far as picking one up there.

I've seen this chair recommended before, thanks for the link, Don.
Although, the manufacturer seems to have conveniently left the folded dimensions out of their blurb: Can you tell us?
Also, what price range are we looking at?

Thanks for any additional info.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I orderd mine from Bass Pro Shops. It was $129.99. The size when folded is 20" x 3.75"x 12. The  Manufacture has a new one that does not fold up as compact but is less in cost about $40.00. I plan on getting another on. These chairs have a open mesh that doesnot get as hot when setting. The compactness of this chair makes it good to fit in the small trunk of my TR3 when I go to car shows. The cost of this is the same as the Kermit chair without leg extension. When you add the extension to the Kermit you have  a $200.00 chair.
