It's official here in the desert, today was the first 100°F day of the year. Baseball is on, cold one at hand & sausage in the grill. Riding will now be conducted early in the day and late at night because during the midday 20w-50 is as thin as cheap Tequila and breezes serve only to desiccate. Need a mesh helmet.

Well, if you're feeling too hot already maybe you'd like to come visit us for a spell - it's raining hard and will continue to do so for at least 12 more hours, and it all started with sleet and snow about 24 hours ago.
At least the temps did get up close to 50F, though with a 30 MPH breeze on top of the rain, it was NOT a good day for a bike ride!
:P
I'm glad that I got about 80 miles on the R65 this past weekend - hope the flowers I was so eagerly planting on Sunday don't freeze!

Rich,
I know what you mean. It was up to about 98 here yesterday. Today it only got to 95. But it's going to be 10 degrees cooler tomorrow and 10 more degrees cooler on Thursday with clouds coming in. Don't think it will bring rain here though. Too bad because we really need it.
Hey Mike! Send us some of that rain you're getting. ;D
Better go get my mesh jacket washed, she said sheepishly. ::)

Well Rich, at least it was a 'dry heat' !!!!
Turned the air conditioning on today, first time this year, earliest I've turned it on in the 16 years I've been in Phoenix.
I'd like to see a few cloudy rainy days here in 'The Valley Of The Sunstroke' , before the 'surface of the sun season' gets serious.

I like the heat, at least as we have it here, but when it goes from 32 last week to 80 yesterday, it throws me for a loop. I ran 10 miles of hills in it yesterday afternoon then donned my leathers for the 50 mile ride home. Luckily I had a tank of gas and didn't have to go through any towns; hothothothot....

So far just a bit shy of 90°F, but it's just a matter of time...

Ed,
Last Thursday it was 38 F. when I left for work at 05:20, and my weather station showed a reading of 101F. yesterday afternoon at about 15:30.
We can get some wide temperature changes this time of year, due to the dry air, my weather station showed a relative humidity of 1% yesterday afternoon, so it was 'a dry heat'.

Monte,
I lived in Houston for one summer (1993), I know what 'wet heat' feels like !!!!
I'll take low humidity heat any day !!
-
Well I have certainly had enough of the heat - I think it finally is winter here....23C but had 56mm up in the hills yesterday. First decent rain for God knows how long. 'Course I forgot to clean out the gutters and had to go out late last night in the rain and with a torch.... Not happy Jan... >:(

Better go get my mesh jacket washed, she said sheepishly.
It's down to the low 70's F today, and in the 60's F tomorrow.
BUT, I got my mesh jacket washed and drying. Gotta think ahead for that HOT weather, eh? ;D

I've been wearing my mesh jacket all week, even at midnight, and the "nekkid bike" came out of mothballs yesterday... I fear the 100s are just around the corner here as well... :P
