in one day!
Here, on the Island of the Dogs , the Balinese Hindus celebrate the eve of their lunar New Year with a day called NYEPI (a.k.a. "the day of silence / seclusion"
On this day, NOTHING happens. You can,t go out, turn on lights, watch TV. All electricity is turned off, the internet is disconnected and everyone does nothing ( the Balinese practice for this all year long!). The ferries to Bali are stopped and there are no flights in, or out of the island.
an interesting but totally unintended consequence of this is that on that day, Indonesia reduces its carbon emissions by 30 thousand tons!
