I'm sure we all have other hobbies besides our R65's. Just thought I'd share mine with you. I crochet and I made a really cool hat for myself. I still have to finish the edge so it fits better, but you'll see the idea here. 8-)
I'll post another picture here too, if Sue will approve. ;) And now she has to as you will all be wondering "what the...........?" :)

I showed this to my wife and requested a bike cover, she said something unprintable. Nice work.
-
Wear it, I dare you!

Warm! ("Cool!" didn't seem to make sense, sorry!) At least until the BMW cops come and confiscate it for copyright violation. I always wonder about that; I guess they have better things to do.
Any other interesting winter projects going on? I've been riding my R65, so I'm not doing anything to it. I'm rebuilding a Napco front end to go under my '58 Chevy pickup, to make it 4WD. I'm tired of not being able to get out when I get a foot of snow. All my pictures are on a Napco forum that requires registration, but here's some general info:

Is this hijacking or degrading a thread? :-/

Why, thank you. But a bike cover? :D I can understand why it's unprintable. ;D

8-) You betcha I'll wear it. I plan on wearing it at the rally coming up the end of May. This is California, after all. ;D
Ed said concernedly: At least until the BMW cops come and confiscate it for copyright violation. I always wonder about that; I guess they have better things to do.
I don't think they can do anything - I just made up a pattern and it turned out like the BMW logo - (gee, how did that happen? ::) ) Anyway, it's for my own use. I'm not selling it to anyone. "Anyone want to buy a hat? Got a good deal right here! [smiley=deal2.gif] "
I was thinking of doing the R65 logo above as a banner. (think flag) I think I could do something like that. Would be fun to try. Hmmmmm. Maybe next winter.

Good for you, Melena!
If the copyright cops do come for you, just remember to dump your garbage on them from the rooftops!

Good thinking Rob! That picture looks like it's from Monty Python. ;D
-
Yeah, now I'll have the Monty Python police knocking down my door! ::)
-
And fart in their general direction.

Way to go Melena!!! 8-) Far out! I just started knitting before Christmas and I'm hooked. Always looking for a new project. Did you follow a pattern or just make it up as you went along? I wonder if I could do the same thing knitting? Hmmmm.... you got me thinking!
Now are you talking about crocheting a FLAG??? Now THAT would be a project! Let us know when you start and keep us posted on that project with pictures... ;D

Ahhhh yes. The Holy Grail.
I still like the Black Knight scene though...
What are you going to do - bleed on me?

I like the scene where the picture comes from.
"Your father was an 'ampster and your mother smelled of elderberries.....I fart in..
...you get the the picture.
Clip clop, clip clop, clip clop,
Watch out for the rabit

It's just a bunny rabbit
He'll do you mate.

Who remembers Castle Anthrax?
"Oh, goodie! Is this where we have the oral ... "
Well, I remember.
Peeps at work frequently call me "Monty Python". High praise, indeed.

Hee, hee, Aïda is "hooked". Maybe hooking is another hobby option. Melena, you have my permission to post the pic..you know the one. Maybe it should go to the national?? Me thinks so!! Sweat, sweat!
My winter has been about walking up the nearby river trail with the neighbour's dog..my good buddy Griz. Cryptic crosswords and a little piano...not enough piano. Being on the net searching for super replacement gear and another bike has been so much fun but I don't recommend what it takes to start a person on this latest "hobby"! :o
-
Yeah - replacement gear. Once the bike get's close to rebuilt, I will have to look for a helmet! My boots were pretty worn out last year, as well... :(
-
Hey, I think having a knit/crocheted BMW beret is pretty darn neat !
My wife is not handy with those sorts of things. Her mother gave her a sewing machine for Christmas some years ago. It stayed in its packaging until mom came over for a holiday and decided to make us some curtains...
:-?

Okay! Now I've got permission, it is posted. See below. I started this scarf some time after Sue had her accident. I thought she needed something warm and healing, so I crocheted lots of healing thoughts into it. I finally finished it just before Christmas.

You play piano? Oooo. That is so cool. I could never get the hang of it. I'll bet playing makes you feel better. I'll also bet it helps build up new brain cells. ;)
I'll bet your walks with Griz are wonderful. I remember those pictures you posted one year. A beautiful area.
Replacement gear. Hmmm. Yeah. I can't wait to see what you finally end up with. I got a new Scorpion helmet recently and I really like it. Fits really similar to my old Shoei but with a little more room in front of my mouth. I think I can get the hose to the Camelback in there easier so I don't have to stop to drink some water. That does sound like a fun pastime though, looking for new gear. I'll do that for no particular reason though. ;)
Now I have an idea for crocheting an R65 tapestry flag. This shoud be fun! Of course, once I get riding for the season, there's no knowing when I'll get back to my crocheting. ;D
-
Here is the scarf by itself. Easier to see the detail. It sure does go with her sweater! I couldn't believe how close the colors are. They are definitely Sue! ;D
-
And they match LRB!

And they match LRB!
Yeah! Imagine that! ;D You got it!
It's her Little Red Baron scarf. 8-)

I guess I really should reply to the thread...
Not really a Winter project (different end of the Earth you understand..) I golf (usually marginal at best - in fact at one stage my father refused to go out with me...he was playing off scratch - did my self confidence no-end of good. However, it did make me improve my game...), go out on my mountain bike and SCUBA dive.
I'm also trying to learn windsurfing - but I think it maybe beyond me - I seem to spend more time in the water than on the board >:( I'd love to learn to kite surf - that looks so cool.
I used to sail a catamaran with a friend of mine, but gave up when he moved up to Nhullumboy in the NT with the cat....
Oh. And I garden. I love it - rain, hail or shine.
-
Hi Melena,
Yeah I too sit down and do my knitting, Knit one, Pearl one, turn the baby over, go do the dishes etc etc.......in ya dreams.
In Winter here we still ride......go sailing, what else is there to do...we can still surf and dive too, the water only gets to about 18 degrees.
I shoot benchrest when i am home, but currently working in China makes it sort of difficult.....funny though, in the market yesterday a young lady was selling shots with an air rifle to bust baloons and win a prize....i decided not to send her bankrupt like i once did to a circus in Brissy.....but that is another story.
