I've had my 1995 Ford F150 since it was new. Most reliable vehicle I have ever owned plus it has only 72K on the clock. However... the headliner fabric has detached itself from the underlayment foam and it sags on days with high humidity.
I bought the correct and high-dollar headliner spray adhesive, removed the cabin trim and took out the entire headliner assembly, pulled the fabric back, masked way too much area -that spray glue gets everywhere- and attempted a DIY overhaul.
Laster about ten days before the sags returned. Arghhhhh! [smiley=furious3.gif]
On a Mexican vacation, my wife and I took a taxi to a restaurant. Big, old American sedan. The owner had the same headliner problem you see frequently at WalMart... fabric laying on top of some ol' guy's bald head. Yeck. However, our driver had used what was probably over 5000 thumbtacks, edge to edge, to hold up the headliner fabric. Too funny... I remembered this ride as I was messing with my truck. Hmmmmm...
I don't have more than a couple tacks in my shop bulletin board but I do have a staple gun and a number of drink coasters that have found their way into my pockets. Double Hmmm...
It's raining today. The headliner is saggy. I'm doing the "Art Car" thing. Please don't tell my wife.
If this doesn't work, I'm doomed to buy a new headliner that's priced over $150.00. I don't think so!

I say go for it! When the headliner started sagging on my Saturn, we just used the staple gun in a nice pattern. Put the pattern down all over, not just where it was sagging, for a consistent look. It worked for me. Gee I wish I'd taken a picture of that, but it's gone now...

I'll be adding more coasters from Happy Hour adventures! The staple pattern sounds interesting. Herringbone? ::)

You can get new headlinet material (foam backed fabric) at J&J Supply on White Settlement in Ft. Worth. Just rip off the old crap, spray adhesive, and stick on the new fabric. I've never had it fail...

True story... My East Texas brother-in-law and I were rolling through the pines, sipping Coors in a bottle and the deputy sheriff stopped us. Lane, my Bn'L, quickly pulled a label off one of the bottles and held it in his lap.
Deputy sez, "you boys been drinking?"
Lane slaps the wet label on his forehead and said, "Nope. We're on the patch!"

Our touring vehicle during our visit to the US (July last year) was a F350 dubblecab - turbodiesel V8...........an amazing truck. It was a wonderful experience - driving such a powerful vehicle on "the wrong side of the road" !
I will never forget the awsome torque of that truck - at 70mph the engine purrs effortlessly at 2000 rpm !

Thinking of your F350 experience and I remember in my Airforce days going to Clarke AirBase in Phillipines and driving these massive Chev pickups (We call them utes) Six packs they called them. Massive 6 cylinder diesels. Plant the foot and the front suspension would raise to end of its travel and it took off like no diesel in Australia would. Thought i had the hang of driving on the wrong side of the road until I turned a corner and wondered why the gutter was so close to my left hand shoulder. Oops back to the right hand side.

Sorta had the same experience Darwin. Back when I was 21 I had just finished my degree and I went over to the States. Got into LA about 5:00pm after a 20 hour flight. Got picked up at the airport by some friends and spent the night at their place. The next day the daughter asked if I wanted to take her to work. Yeah - why not? She had a VW Beetle. Do you want to drive - :D - why yes! Starting off was fine but then I had to turn left at the corner. Went straight into the wrong lane and was quite happy until she finally won me over with her hissy fit - (oh and the fact that a couple of cars were suddenly breaking and pulling over to the curb). Later on she said that I could drive home and she would catch a bus back. No probs. Now I thought I had pretty good sense of direction (though there are some wags who would disagree). Turned out of the parking lot and went in the totally opposite direction.....finally came to the realisation that I had no idea where I was (but fortunately I was on the correct side of the road still). After about a two hours I finally managed to find my way back to her work...Went in and said that after second thoughts it was such a nice day I would just walk around and look in the shops for the remainder of the day and wait for her...... ::)
