I was finally able to connect to this site again this morning, after a problem with this site on June 10, I kept getting the site does not exist !

After this site went down, I down loaded the latest version of AVG anti-virus software 8.0, and also down loaded Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.
After a day or so I emailed Rob Valdez, and he said the site was only down for a few hours, nothing more than the usual outages we get here on occasion.
I tried to do a system restore to an earlier date, and it would not allow it.
I did a full system recovery from the original cd's that I got when I purchased the computer 4 years ago, and no help.
Going to the AVG website, there were problems with the first version of 8.0, one of them being, the system restore was made unfunctional.
The Internet Explorer 7 had problems with not allowing various sites to be accessed, and was giving the same website does not exist, or cannot connect to this site at this time.
So I deleted these programs, had a co-worker do some magic with completely erasing everything on the computer, and then I started from square one again, and now ,at least at this time, I have access to this site.
It was really unusual, that this site was the only one that I had problems with.
Hopefully the problem is gone for good.
I have internet access at work, but my employer is watching internet usage, and is using this as one way to terminate employees for job productivity.
They have terminated around 5,000 employees in the last 14-15 months, mostly high seniority high pay employees, then they hire entry level, low pay employees to replace them.
So to answer your question , I think it was the combination of these two software downloads that caused the problem.
I also have been working a lot, it's prime vacation season, and I was covering for vacationing co-workers for the last month, so I didn't have a lot of time to mess with this problem, just put it on the back burner for a while.
I also have a feeling that the work that is being done at the end of my block may have had something to do with it.
The telephone/cable provider, has been working for the last 16 weeks, replacing and installing 6 'junction' boxes, they contain hunderds of thousands of the small bell type wires.
I went by there on foot when were technicians working there, and he said it was a major junction from the fiber optics network to 'hard wire' circuits for the surrounding area.
Last Thursday, I lost internet, cable television and telephone service, and just got it all back this morning.

Bob, glad you were able to get it all sorted. It was a very strange thing that happened, especially if it was software related. I normally see issues like that when going through firewalls ran by gestapo-like admins [smiley=evil.gif] , DAMHIK! I am really not sure what corrected the problem.
The co-worker that did the exorcism of all old data, reloaded the recovery discs, and I reconnected the computer to the modem at home, and still couldn't get to the R65 site.
I reloaded Windows Service Pack 2, AVG 8.1.35 anti-virus, and internet Explorer 7, and again still no luck with this site.
I got home from work at about 1:30 am this morning, tried again to get here, no luck.
After I got up this morning about 9:30 am, I had no problem logging into this site, so I have to believe that it was an internet access problem, as there was a lot of activity around these junction boxes at the end of my block this morning.
Quoting Achman's Razor, 'all things being equal, the simplest answer is the correct one' .

Still, it's just strange. I think that BooG had a similar issue about a year ago...
