Title: Memorial Day... Never Forget
Post by: montmil on May 23, 2008, 06:38:37 PM
My youngest son, at 32 years, is a fourteen-year combat arms veteran of the USArmy. He has previously served in the Armor branch with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment (3ACR) in Bosnia, the 1st Cavalry Division (1CAV) in Iraq, and of late a tour in Iraq in Infantry with the 36th Infantry Division (36ID).

Tomorrow, Saturday 24 MAY 2008, friends and family will assemble to welcome him home from his third tour overseas; the last two in the nastiest location on the planet, Iraq. Fourteen months in country.

Staff Sergeant Zachary D Miller is a squad leader of a twelve-man unit of sniper-spotters. The politically correct Military Occupational Speciality (MOS) is Target Reconnaissance, Surveillance & Acquisition. Most of this tour, he was attached to the 101st Airborne.

This Memorial Day, no matter your political views or feelings about the United States of America,  please take a moment to pause and consider the sacrifices that the men and women of our armed forces have made, and continue to make - yesterday, today and tomorrow.

May God bless them and their families for their sacrifice.

Monte Miller

Hi Monte,

Please extend my sincere thanks to your son for his dedication and commitment in defending the values of this country, and
also thanks to you for raising  such a fine young man.    I am VERY happy that he is a home with you again, on this weekend
in particular.  I hope that he doesn't have any more overseas deployments for a long, long time - we'll all pray for that !
