Sadie has progressed form tube feeding to a soft diet.
No evidence of any tumor remaining.
Its amazing how she is recovering.
-
Good to hear that the recovery is coming along.
When the surgery was done, was there some sort of artifical material used to replace the removed bone ?
-
Good deal, that's great news!! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Good for Sadie.
I'm happy for you, as well.
I am sure she has missed eating normally.
-
Yeah Sadie - you go girl! :D I know she must be glad to be "chewing" her own food again. Hope she continues doing well.
-
Great news - glad to hear that Sadie is continuing to improve/
You know that you're probably going to have to get a sidecar for her, don't you ?

There is not a comprehensive reconstruction procedure for animals.
For a human, a rib is removed & used to reconstruct the mandible.
Not done for animals. There is great risk with the additional surgey.
Animals do not recover the same as humans.
However, they seem to be quite happy to utilize thier remaining assets.

Troy,
I'm so glad to hear Sadie is doing so much better. She's got a great "Dad"! ;)
You know, as NHMAF said, you are going to have to get Sadie a side car. ;D I can just see it. Hee hee! Flying down the road with this great heap of a dog sitting in a side car, ears flying in the wind and one of those leather helmets and big ole goggles. Hee hee! ;D

... and, being a St. Bernard, a loooooooooooong string of drool trailing behind in the wind !
;)
It would be so gosh darn cute !
-
Thanks again for everyone's help to me getting through this.
Sadie is a real tough girl.
She will get a side car as soon as I can recover from the massive financial setback from the vet bills.

It's amazing how adaptable and resilient critters are. One of my neighbor's sons had a three-legged Chihuahua named Killer (I called it Tripod) who would run up and down the back fence yapping at our Lab and generally driving her nuts because I don't think poor Shadow understood it was some sort of dog. In the course of running and yapping one would never have known Tripod had a leg missing unless the damn thing would sit still long enough to let you count appendages.

Sadie currently doing well.
There was a little scar for a bit with her not eating & having an insatiable thirst.
Nothing showed up in testing.
A course of antibiotics as a precaution.
She is eating again & no signs of the cancer returning at this time.
Thanks again for the support from everyone.
