Still in the long drawn out process of calibrating my speedo...so to run in conjunction with it for the moment, I am about to fix a bicycle computer speedo to the front wheel and fork. Anyone ever done this before?

A forum search should show up something as this has been discussed at length. Do a search on all dates not just the default past week...

Yes, there have been several in-depth discussion on this, by VA Steve, me, and a few other folks, with pics too. A very popular mod for the older bike set.
They were all in the Technical Discussion area, so a search should turn them up.

That's OK, Ed, it was over 2 years before I even tried installing the fairing that the extenders were intended for! lol!

Very similar to my TrailTech Vapor digital rig. A rare earth magnet epoxied to the brake disc triggers the sensor. Easy programing the instrument head with the tire's diameter. Bike speedo probably cheaper but the Vapor has tons of nice features including a Hobbs meter.

All great stuff! Thanks for the links. I was wondering how to fix the magnet to the wheel, but epoxy seems to be the answer to that one. I have a radio controlled speedo, so no cables to route, but the sensor cannot be more than 60cm from the speedo, so I am thinking of mounting the magnet on the wheel rim, and the sensor on the mudguard on a bracket.

Monte, I forgot to ask before: can the Trailtech odometer be set to the actual mileage for the bike? I can't wait to see my bikes roll the clock over....

Unfortunately, no. Cats at work look at my digi instrument and marvel at the low mileage on a 1981 scooter! I ain't saying a word... ;)

Not much luck with the wireless speedo. I think the bike electrics messed up the signal, so I only travelled at 58mph all day! I'm gonna go there with another however..a wired one this time..

I have the same issue on my lathe. I converted to a DC motor and use a variable controller board. It generates enough "RF" to cause the inductive pickup tachometer I installed on the lathe to read improperly. Sometimes I look up and see I am turning a piece well over 4000 RPM!!! Now, that's screaming... ;)
