Title: Lost Airline Baggage Sales
Post by: Bob_Roller on February 06, 2008, 10:41:59 AM
Came across another interesting site,  http://www.unclaimedbaggage.com/  , found it on my employers ( Southwest Airlines) employee resource site.

This company ( Unclaimed Baggage Center) buys unclaimed baggage from mostly airlines, and puts the contents up for sale in their retail out let store, at quite reasonable prices.

So if you're ever in the northeastern corner of Alabama, the town is Scottsboro, may be a worthwhile diversion.

( Rob the link finally worked!)

They had a deal on the local news this evening that Southwest gathers up all of the stuff left on the planes into some warehouse in Dallas and donates all of it to the local Salvation Army.  The SA confirmed that all of this stuff goes out to their thrift stores and brings them about a mil per year!

It is amazing what gets left behind on aircraft by passengers.

A large portion of it never gets back to it's owner.

If you look at the statistics, Southwest operates about 1.3 million flights a year, and carries about 65 million passengers in that time frame.

Lot's 'o stuff gets lost !!
