Pulled the oilhead out of the garage this morning to take a quick ride, and I see this river of water coming out of the ground right at the water meter and running down the street !!.
So I put the bike back in , and procede to investigate the leak, and of course it is on my side of the water meter, so it is my responsibility, not the city water service.
After digging a trench 4 feet long and 3 feet deep, I found my leak, it was only a cracked PVC fitting going into the copper pipe that came out of the water meter.
Installed a repair, waiting for the pvc cement to cure should only be an hour. I'll check to see if my repair will hold.
So much for an early Sunday morning ride !!!

I guess this explains my increasing water consumption.
The most recent water bill showed about 6500 gallons more useage last month than is normal at this time of year.
Usually it's around 4-5000 gallon useage, and the last bill was for 11,600 gallons.
I wonder how many years this has been leaking !!!
My first repair failed, so now the second repair, a telescoping repair kit , has the pvc cement curing.
I feel a lot more confident than the last one ! :o
Time for well deserved BEER !!! ;D
Hour and a half later, turned the water back on, and no leak.
I'll leave it overnight to see if any leaks develope, and fill in the trench tomorrow.
I want a refund for my 'VACATION DAY' !!!!
