A large corporation recently hired several cannibals. During the welcoming briefing the HR rep said, "You are all part of our team now. You get all the usual benefits and you can go to the cafeteria for something to eat, but
please do not eat any of the other employees". The cannibals promised they would not.
Four weeks later their boss remarked, "You are all working very hard and I am satisfied with your work. However, one of our admin assistants has disappeared. Do any of you know what happened to her?" The cannibals all shook their heads, "No".
After the boss had left, the leader of the cannibals said to the others, "Which one of you idiots ate the admin assistant?"
A hand rose hesitantly.
"You fool!" the leader said to the guilty person. "For four weeks we have been eating managers and no one noticed anything. But NOOOOOOO, you had to go and eat someone who actually does something!!!"

Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk..... ;)
"But seriously, folks...." ::)

I would ask where I could hire some of these cannibals, but alas, I have changed jobs.

My sister worked as an admin assistant for a while at the same place I worked. Boy, did she have some stories, and they confirmed what I had suspected about some of the managers for a long time. Namely, their existence was solely to fill empty seats at meetings, and probably best they made no real decisions.
Bill........................ :-?

Yes, "wastes of skin" are usually promoted into those positions so they can do less harm. [smiley=shoot.gif]

Seems to be the way in a number of industries nowadays. Mine is just crawling with the skilled incompetent. You might see something familiar in this article in your own workplace.

By contrast. I worked for a German optical company some 27 years ago. In this environment the technologists / skilled crafts people were held in the highest regard while the administrative people jumped through flaming hoops to meet their needs. wonder if this is true in other German companies and if it is the reason our old bikes still perform so well?
