Title: Electrical connector source?

Anyone know of a source for this style electrical connector? Its the one that goes from the main harness to the transmission switch.

I'm going to get the transmission switch part of it, but the male part on the main harness is toast. The plastic housing is bubbled away.  Looks like the P/O (or someone) spilled battery acid on it, and 'fixed' it by wrapping it in electrical tape.

I've combed the on line catalogs and dealer fiches, but in order to get just that connector, I have to buy a new main harness. I'd rather not use something more modern if I can find something that looks (or is) original.

You might have to replace both with a matching pair...

Have you tried to call Max BMW? Or maybe someone like EME?  The people at Max have been somewhat helpful with me in trying to find things like that. Not necessarily successful but they've been happy to look.

Ditto with the CycleTerminal guy. He was very responsive to my emails.

I ended up finding a perfect match to the BMW dash switch connectors at Mouser. Their site can be a royal pain in the ass to search but they have tons of stuff.

Don't know if they even available anymore .

I think I would be inclined to use common spade type connectors and put heat shrink on the connectors to keep them from coming apart .

 I tried contacting Max.  Emailed them about three weeks ago, but haven't heard back yet.  And how the heck did my late night, exhaustive searches not turn up Cycle Terminal?  Their two pin connector looks about as close as I'm gonna get.  woo hooo!!

Now to order up some stock looking wire.

Glad you found a fix. There are a few sources for "proper" wire (colors, stripes, etc.) or else you can just go with good quality but close-enough color-wise.

With Max, I've always called. And if it's anything that's exclusive to anything remotely "old", they'll put you to one or two guys there.  As I said above, I haven't always been successful but they've been happy to talk with me and do some digging. Or save me some digging by telling me if they know for sure they don't have something, can't buy it separately, etc.

Hey DeeG - maybe you've figured it out already but I stumbled upon this page on Eastern Beaver.  I discovered that Powerlet connectors use a T.  Not sure if the size or orientation is the exact same but this looks close?  Or maybe these are the same as what you already found at CycleTerminal?

I had completely forgotten about Eastern Beaver.  They have lots of stuff there.  :-)
