Title: LCD Display Help please
Post by: Lucky_Lou on October 31, 2011, 04:18:41 PM
I have a Car wash machine on site which had a LCD display giving program time remaining, the display is about 4cm high 6cm wide sadly its cracked and no doubt will fail soon, the company that made it has gone bust so i am wondering if these displays are a standard item any advice gratefully received.

Here's a link to a US company, Newark Electronics .

May give you an idea of what's available .

The last few pages, a UK company is mentioned, may want to see what they have .

When you say the company that made it has gone bust do you mean the car wash company or LCD panel manufacturer ?

The LCD display may have been a generic bought in item with some sort of manufacturers reference number on. If you can find that info there is a reasonable chance of finding an equivalent part.

In the UK CPC  or RS Components would be some places to start.

The Car wash company went bust i dare say the unit is generic Barry. I cannot see any info on the outside of the unit so i will strip it out before it fails to see if there is any manufacturers name in side. The main concern is that it is also used to give the machines counter readings which i use for billing.
Thanks for the links Guys.

From what I can see on the link below Wiztec are or were in Hull. There no longer seems to be a web site though.

"Hull based www.wiztec.co.uk is a supplier of electronic control equipment and timers."

The circuit doesn't look to be very sophisticated. My best guess is it's a simple counter display.  If that's the case a you can get something like this which comes in versions that count pulses or count hours.

Without a circuit diagram and knowledge of how it's supposed to work I am just guessing though Lou.
