Looks like I'll be needing front brake pads for the '83... Most other brake components replaced last Fall. I see numerous options, as far as manufacturer, composition, etc.-- so what's the "hot setup" for the Bremo-equipped R65?

I've got EBC FA18 graphite pads on my '81 .
I had two sets of OEM pads, dry stopping was good, but wet stopping performance, was about on par with Fred Flintstone dragging his feet on the ground, to get his car stopped .
I haven't seen any dramatic increase in brake performance in dry conditions with these pads, but wet stopping capability is greatly increased .
With the OEM pads, if there was good chance of a shower forecast, I wouldn't take the '81 out .
If you have ATE calipers, you need to trim down the metal back plate to fit, takes about 15 minutes or so for each pad .
If you have Brembo calipers no modification is needed .
I don't get the usual brake dust on the front wheel, I haven't washed the bike since January the front wheel is still clean .
Also not sure how long the pads will last, seemed to be a 'soft' brake compound .

EBC FA18 is what I use too. Very little dust on precious white rims!!

+1 on the EBC FA18 pads. The also sell a matching set of rear brake shoes with the same material - I bought a set of those too, but haven't put them on yet. The front OEM pads were pretty well shot, so I put the EBC pads on the front this spring and am quite satisfied.

I have a set of pads tapped together with masking tape,and R80 written on them,I'll use those next pad change.Should be sweet I reckon.

The EBC part number for graphite/kevlar padsfor ATE calipers is FA57 .

Kevlar Green. Don't fade. The need to heat up so in the rain they may not be there as quick. Keeps you from skidding.
