Title: r80 windshield and the rest on r65
Post by: scuba on August 11, 2008, 06:25:50 AM
Has anyone tried to mount r80 windshield and the rest of the "tub" onto a r65 bike? I can get one for almost 0 money so I'm interested is it easy to mount or it just doesn's pay off.
Thanks

Are you referring to the RT or RS BMW fairings ?   If so, yes, these can be fitted - Justin B has one on an R65 in his garage, and
some other folks (particularly across the pond) have them fitted to R65s as well..

sorry, it's r80 rt fairing. I'm jut interested if it is possible, how hard it is or it is better to left it for someone with r80 rt in need.

If it's complete (with mounting bracketry) then it's pretty much a mechanically straight install as far as I can tell.

Thanks everyone, this was too good to be true. 0 money is what it always was. 0 money >:( . No bracketry and after closer look I found that the fairing was smashed than repaired from inside in a pretty lowsy manner, missaligned and without mounting pieces for bracketry on the right hand side.

Sorry for bothering you guys, I was just trigger happy that it might work :'(

I must ride now to drown my sorrow in dozen liters of 95 octane leaded fuel

Still, if you can get it cheap enough it would be worth it and you can e-Bay the bits you are in need of.  I have been able to put together all necessary pieces (except for one upper piece, left) for either an RS or RT fairing for under $150.  Of course, I've been picking and choosing over the past 3 years...

just kidding, I'm not a doctor  ;D
next time I'll bring a bottle of whiskey for the guy in a police scrapyard. maybe I'll find something better.

Good looking bike, Scuba.  Don't hide her beauty too much, keep her naked.
